Physics proves the earth is only thousands of years old.

Let me get one thing straight here.

People who have taken the time to learn about the bible - ask the question - where does the bible say the earth is 6000 years old.

That date was given by a monk who was guessing how long people lived and he had to guess about missing generations.

but, nevertheless the from my studies the science of dating is subject to a valid criticism.

1. Who says time has been a constant
2. Who says light is a constant throughout time
3. Does not dating have a frame of reference problem. How they do we know how old the rocks found in the rocks really are? They do have serious problems "baselining".

5. If you can not prove time is constant then does it really matter how old we think the fossil is?

This is a peer review ? Specifically as regards his Hydroplate Thesis ?

Do you have a better review for me to read? The Amazon review was articulate and specific, your reccomendation I will point out wasn't .
Don't attack me because the author hasn't submitted his work for review and if he has Point me in the right direction and I'll read it.

jem do you really want to be in the same group as peil and his ilk? if you have to manipulate the laws of physics to make what you believe fit the observable evidence what does that say about what you believe?

1.0 out of 5 stars Wrong, and I can prove it, December 27, 2009
By Gerard Jellison - See all my reviews

Here is a link containing what I find to be a rational and interesting online debate between some very smart people and the Amazon.com reviewer Mr. Jellison.

It would appear that Mr. Jellison also is a member of the "If you dont agree with me you must be a moron" club.

Sure, but it would be in poor taste to be so arrogant publicly.

i can understand that. it does sometimes feel like picking on retarded people debating with creationists.

Someone who thinks the earth and universe is 6000 years old may not be a moron but they are definatly delusional.
A trading term that describes the pysedo science for the young earth myth is " curve fitting".

Your making the assumption that I believe the Earth is 6000 years old.

I believe G-D created the heavens and the earth. I have no idea how old or young it is.

What is the point you are making here.
Are you sure the speed of light is a constant? Did you check the other thread on elitetrader right now - where scientist are claiming instantaneous travel.

It might turn out to be like cold fusion. But, I have never been convinced light is a constant. and if light is not a constant than time might not be either. This has nothing to do with my religious beliefs.

I consider all this bible dating stuff to be pissing in the wind by evangelicals and staw men arguing by the anti christians.

A peer review of the blindness of blind men performed by blind men at a convention for the blind does not produce sight...

Quote from Gabfly1:

I'll accept the so-called circularity of peer review as long as it keeps the whackos and charlatans in check. I'll leave you to your wider net. Note that the (honorary) PhD guy who is referred to in the opening post did not have his Earth dating "science" peer reviewed.
