In every town and city where I have lived, the locals would start getting a little crispy around the edges- thinking that local crises might require more presence - not less. Talk about a no-show job.

You can’t understand why this is wrong because you and the person that asked the question think in stereotypes.
When you talk about drug use and people being armed there really is no difference between black and white.
Try thinking in terms of individuals and circumstances then you will have better understanding.

No one has denied that in the "individual" in south bend in this specific "circumstance" was confronting the officer with a knife.

You are still in mourning over the Gentle Giant in Furgeson- a guy who should have been shot long before he engaged the officer, if the store owner had been carrying a weapon to protect himself from that scum. But no, he threatened and physically assaulted the store owner and then was able to move on to rinse and repeat with the officer. Sorry, his luck ran out. Not really. The guy was a born killer.
