She is an idiot and does not even understand the outcome of that disastrous social experiment. It resulted in the total breaking down of community cohesiveness in both the black and white communities. Anyone who understands America at all knows that the school is the center of American life and a rallying point and gathering place for a whole range of activities and interactions, long after you are no longer a student. BOOM! Busing nuked it and made relations between the races much, much, much worse in most communities.
The other thing that dumphuk Skankala does not understand is that both blacks and whites came out of that experiment agreeing- even if it worked for them- that the root cause of segregation in schools IS SEGREGATION IN HOUSING. DUH! If you have more integrated housing/neighborhoods then the integration in schools follows naturally. The dems follow and promote policies that keep blacks stuck on the dem plantation and then wonder why the schools are not integrated there.
Joe's problem is that he took a hit in the polls from people that he never intended to go after in the first place in his campaign- the progressive loons. And now he is all fucked up trying to be in the wing of the party where he cannot out-loon anyone.
If he had just stuck with going after "the forgotten middle class, moderate dem" and union workers, then his comments and positions on busing would have been fine and actually gotten him some votes. Plenty of moderate dems think that whole thing that was a complete disaster that did more harm than good. Or you can flip it around and look at it another way, which is that Skankala needs to be careful promoting stuff that the general population knows more about than she does. She thinks that her job is to show how out-dated and behind the times Joe is, but there is a whole bunch of people out there- both black and white- that think that busing sounds pretty fucking RETRO.
