Paul Ryan agrees to be House Speaker -- if certain conditions are met

Freedom Caucus commits hari kari...

Freedom Caucus Majority Backs Paul Ryan for House Speaker

A strong majority of anti-establishment lawmakers in the House Freedom Caucus voted on Wednesday night to support Representative Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin for House speaker, effectively delivering the Republican Party unity that he had sought as a condition for accepting the post.

While the vote fell short of the four-fifths majority required for the group’s official endorsement, lawmakers said it nonetheless cleared the way for Mr. Ryan, 45, to be selected as the Republican nominee next Wednesday and affirmed as speaker in a floor vote the next day.

Mr. Ryan did not immediately comment on whether the majority vote was sufficient, given that he said he wanted the endorsement of all factions of his party.

"The decision to support Ryan by the 40-member House Freedom Caucus, which has risen in power and stature since its founding earlier this year, came after the Ways and Means chairman spent much of his day courting its support."

'spent much of his day courting its support'

So who put on their kneepads, got down on their hands and knees and begged, and kissed the other's behind, GWB? LOL

Let me help you with translation of politispeak to English...

"courting its support" = "Here are your knee pads"

"If House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)
is true to his word, he will drop out of contention for the House Speakership.

The House Freedom Caucus on Wednesday evening voted against endorsing Ryan—an endorsement Ryan considered essential to formally launching a bid for House Speaker.

“HOUSE FREEDOM CAUCUS DOES NOT ENDORSE PAUL RYAN. They say a SUPER MAJORITY will support Ryan for speaker, however,” Politico’s Jake Sherman tweeted.

“Supermajority of House Freedom Caucus to support but not endorse Paul Ryan but did get to 80%,” Fox News’ Chad Pergram"

So Ryan did not obtain the support he said he would have to have to take the job.

In addition, his spokesman, Brendan Buck, has spent the day attempting to "clarify" what Ryan meant about changing the rules for vacating a sitting speaker's position.
" Allow me to clear a few things up. Ryan is not proposing to eliminate the motion to vacate.

It should exist. The process for how it can be used, however, should be changed. Open to different approaches." -Brendan Buck

So in addition to Ryan having gotten down on his knees and begged for the job on Wednesday afternoon, his spokesman was busy walking back the 'demands' that Ryan made to take the job.

Still no word on whether he will walk back his demand that he receive the endorsement of the Freedom Caucus, which they have just voted to not give him, but if past is prologue, we'll be hearing how he 'mispoke' or something, and will take the job without the Freedom Caucus's full endorsement.

Being a conservative myself, I'm getting a very big kick out of watching the rino wing slobbering and begging over the conservatives trying to get their support.

"It was Donohue and his CoC, (Chamber of Commerce) who met privately with McConnell, Cornyn, Boehner and Cantor

between October 2013 and April 2014 to construct the 2014, 2015 legislative priorities of the republican party in congress.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce 2014/15 goals:

The full implementation of ObamaCare without adjustment. (link)

Comprehensive Immigration Reform – to include Amnesty for illegal aliens.

(link)

Support for full delivery of Federal Common CORE education standards. (link)

Support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal (TPP which led to TPA)

You’ll note all of these legislative priorities are also supported by Paul Ryan; and it was Ryan who pushed the TPA through in the House of Representatives."

This is who the Republican party is working for. Not it's voters. The voters are pawns. What the voters want isn't considered.
