However I will state that anyone viewing electing Ryan as Speaker with the associated demands as some sort of victory for the conservatives is completely off base in my opinion.
Ok, i'll explain it to you.
If the Freedom caucus obtains regular order to the house, then they'll have some input over what comes up for a vote. The prospect of that happening makes pee run down the legs of rinos. Because if, say, conservatives brought to a vote a bill to defund Planned Parenthood, the rinos would actually have to cast a vote on it. They couldn't say they're against planned parenthood, when they really aren't. Or any other hot button issue. It exposes them to the party as to what they really stand for. And this they are scared to death of.
The Freedom Caucus can't elect their own man. They don't have the votes. But they can block anyone that won't open up House procedures for them. Unless Paul Ryan gets democrats to vote him speaker. But that leads right back to the same problem. The base would see what they really stand for.
