Unlike 2016,Trump has an actual track record as President for 2020.There is also a reelection track record for Presidents with approval ratings like Trump.
The data before the election showed Hillary would get more votes,and she got millions more votes.
Actually the advantages of being an incumbent in a Presidential election are significant. Just holding the office gives you a significant advantage in the race historically. Especially when the other party does not have a strong candidate to put forward.
Well the winner of the popular vote wins The EC 93 % of the time.Trump did beat 93% odds against him but I doubt he beats 93 % odds twice in a row.
That changes when you have a very unpopular President with approval ratings like Ford,Bush 1 and Carter.Also only 1 President out of 5 who didn't get the most votes got a 2nd term.
If anyone in this forum has some statistical math on past presidential races for their second term re-election vs. their popularity rating in the fourth year of their first term -- I would like to see an article or information on the subject. I have never seen a very good evaluation or study of the probabilities of being re-elected at President.
