Once again -- after lockdowns and restrictions break the Covid wave and cause a steep decline in cases then you can ease up on the restrictions -- this is how proper public health policy driven by data works and is applied. If a new wave of cases occur then you will need to apply the restrictions again. This is especially true in Australia which has a "zero Covid" policy.
Once again, the lockdowns didn't stop the massive spike. Then the spike began to drop and they let "some lockdowns" lapse. The rest of the time they are quarantining people in COVID hotels and fining the unvaxxed.
