Maverick Vs Don Bright

Mav, how many traders are in the Bright Chicago office and do they seem to work together or is it segregated small groups doing thier own thing?

I trade remote now, but I do remember the good old days when there was lots of comunication in the office. HFT drove just about all the old traders out of the business and every office I knew of has collapsed. Any trades remaining that I knew are all remote.

If I found a good office environment I would happily join one again.

Mav, good luck with Bright.

I don't follow the logic concerning the better deal... Echo is cheaper and has a higher payout. So you chose Bright because of the office space?

Bright has a higher payout then Echo and their rates are the same. At least they are for the strategy we are trading. The leverage is better. The office. And Bright is better capitalized.

About 9 or 10 people in the Chicago office. A lot of people working together and collaborating but like any office, you have to take the initiative. No one is going to reach out to you and show you what they are doing. This is true of any office. You have to make the effort.

Echo is <80% payout?

Bright's payout is larger then 90%. I don't want to piss Don off if he doesn't want that public. I don't work for the company so I don't think there is any harm in me saying that.

They are saying that Bright can give the equivalent of 100% payout, or close, through bonuses or other means but are trying to avoid being too explicit about it.

I thought I was being pretty explicit about it over the last few days. LOL.

Don is a great guy and I've never read a bad review about him. The reason why no bad reviews exist is because Don will sit there on the phone with you answering all your questions completely and in their entirety. He doesnt play any games like many prop firms out there. Don can be a little gimmicky and cheesy at times, but thats just his style from having grown up in the 70s. However, he is honest, classy and direct.

If you fail at Bright it wont be because of them. They will try to help and assist you in the best way they possibly can. Don offers a "boot camp" which no other prop firm offers. Beyond the "boot camp" there is a lot of assistance and mentoring. Don will talk to you at anytime.

There can be times when Don's firm is not a fit for all people or maybe that particular person doesnt have the ability to make it at Don's firm. Don will do his best to smooth over the transition for these people out of the firm in a classy and understanding kind of way so that no one walks away pissed off and angry.

You can make fun of prop trading, you can make fun of trading in general or the people around trading, but I wouldnt make fun of Don. Don's been there, done that and a floor trader back in the day. He doesnt have to work hard to get your business because he already works as hard as anyone can in that role. I do think he can be a lot less cheesy, but no one is perfect including myself. I also think Don would at least have a discussion about the commissions and other matters of compensation. I dont think he is an inflexible rock when it comes to that.
