Seems like you just got unlucky MarketSurfer. Your ex called and you decided not to pick up the phone for whatever reason. You did not know that answering her call could save her life. Knowing what you knew at the time of the phone call, it was not an incorrect decision. Unfortunately, there is only so much one can do in this life to minimize "bad luck risk". Perhaps take comfort in knowing that billions of humans that are currently living and are now dead have also experienced varying degrees of bad luck. In fact, I used to play at this dive bar with my band and was talking with this regular there one night. It came out in the conversation that his wife and all of his children were killed by a drunk driver in Orlando while they were on a Church trip (I googled the story and confirmed it). I was left speechless after hearing this story and can't even begin to comprehend how one recovers from something like that. This guy has experienced the ultimate bad luck and has somehow recovered to a certain degree (he was remarried).

Since a lot of your posts bash TA I have formed the opinion, supported by your own posts, ...you bash TA because it increases your income as an investment fund salesman.

Only exclamation point in your last 20 posts. Not the anger you falsely accuse me of but also not the remorse or solemn sobriety that would be appropriate.

Relief followed by happiness after thinking of a non-sequitur non-denial.

You bash TA because doing so increases your income. Proving it is a simple algebraic equation. Are you able to see in retrospect how your bragging prevented the clear thinking necessary to avoid leaking all the variables? Toothpaste is out of the tube.

Have you considered that perhaps you're sense of guilt is exactly what she wanted to instill in you before her ultimate act? You're responsible for having managed the money, up, or down. Nothing else. Is it a fantasy to think you could have saved her?

He gambled her capital in an effort to make big commission for himself. It wasn't about capital management, capital management is based on long term diversified investments using prudent risk management strategies.

back in 1998 i launched my first hedge fund. It was initially funded with a substantial sum of capital by my first real girlfriend from highschool.

I did well, so she became my largest single investor--- ever in one of my ventures. Obviously, i couldn't tell my then wife about her capital investment-- this bothered me.

As fate would have it, i attempted to call the bottom of the tech crash and failed I lost.

The fund crashed and burned, her money was lost. She cut off contact with me.

One evening, some time later, i recd a phone call from her number. I didn't answer-- there was no message left.

To my dismay and deep regret, i found out several weeks later-- she was found dead the night of the phone call. A suicide.

What if took the call? I was afraid of hearing crap about losing her families generational money-- i had no idea that she was suicidal and thats why she called me.

She was a keeper of my memories from my childhood-- now her and those memories are gone forever.

Needless to say i remain deeply disturbed about this situation. I will wonder forever what if i would have taken that call....
Or not lost the money--

I am well aware that correlation is not causation but my emotional side keeps me wondering----
