San Diego has the best weather in the continental US. It's also a really nice city. Unfortunately CA has a really high income tax. I'll take Tampa and its no local/state income tax which is where I live now.
I've moved to Treasure Coast and so far its looking like a good decision. We have 6.5% sales tax here on non-grocery stuff but that about it for local taxes aside from property tax.
I was born on the coast just North of San Diego and I have always liked the place but I cannot imagine ever living there again. The only thing I will miss is the surf.

Tampa has an 8.5% sales tax (the highest in the state). Luckily the sales tax doesn't effect me as much as an income tax would. At least we got the Lightning! Traffic's here, but it isn't as bad as SoFlo, drier, and less hurricanes too. Property values are a lot higher than they were a decade ago. Getting close to SoFlo prices.
Property in Tampa only set to rise - so long as the macro environment holds. If you are fleeing higher tax domiciles, and are NOT retired, where are you going to find work? Miami and Tampa. Hospitality and banking has some in Orlando, but for the most part it is Miami or Tampa. And who the hell wants to live in Miami?
Yep...traffic only going to get worse though, half million dollar townhomes all along Kennedy Blvd being sold before they're built.
Fort Lauderdale is popular too. It's more like the rest of America than Miami is lol. Tampa>Orlando anyday. Gotta be by the water in the summer.
I live east in Fishhawk and work off Kennedy. I take the crosstown express in, and it dumps me right where I work. But traffic out east in Brandon is a Charlie Foxtrot.
Pretty rural over there. Dunno if that's where the sinkholes are lol. I left for a couple of months vacation in July and came back. Traffic was non-exist from March-July. Seems like it's somewhat closer to normal. I'm renting on the west side of Tampa looking for the market to crash to buy something. Only 31, single, and want a townhome in the city. Dunno if that crash will ever happen though. The renting moratorium is going end eventually.
