That is how it works. Another way to look at it is that California can fill itself to the brim with leftists and it doesn't give them any additional influence in an election and that works for me.

Once a state has gone full leftist its weight in a election is a given and can be offset by states with more sensible politics. Every leftist in the country should move to California, Oregon or Washington. Same for New York. They can cheat to their hearts content and it won't make any difference. That is the brilliance of the Electoral College.
