KING OF BAIN....Oh My Gawd!

Quote from Maverick74:

Let's look at the numbers. There are about 120 million conservatives in the country. Rush gets about 3 million a day. That means, less then 3% of people who are conservative listen to him. That's pretty small RCG. I would say he is a non event. Rush in a way is very much like Ron Paul in that both people have a "small" but loyal following. They bark a lot and are really loud, but there are not that many of them.

This is evidenced by the fact that in '08 Rush was bent on stopping McCain from getting the nomination. Epic Fail!!

Now in '12 he was bent on stopping Romney, until this week after Romney was the first guy ever to win both of first two states in an open primary, and polls showed him with a heavy lead in SC, FL, and NV.

Fact is that there are only so many far right conservatives in this country and they don't decide things. Most people are a bit more moderate.

Friendly fire, man, friendly fire! lol.

Again, you live in the city. Folks down here quote Rush everyday. I have to be fair and say that there are only a few superstations down here and they are all conservative, so some people have never even heard of msnbc. But, that is not the point. You also did not address that when Rush told his listener to phone Congress they did crash the system. And Rush did have such an impact on the 2008 election that the President had to address him as the head of the GOP. I would not exactly call that minor, Mav.

Again, look, you can crash a radio station with 50k callers. It's not that hard. Very very few people listen to Rush. Your mind is playing a trick on you since you seek out confirmation of that belief. If you hear 3 people in a single day mention him, you just assume everyone did. If you think about how many people you actually encounter in a single day and add them up, I bet less then 5% of them ever mention Rush or whatever he talked about the day before. The numbers just aren't there RCG.

I think this is a point that is often overlooked by some people here at ET.

Agree. Not long ago Mr. Limbaugh was a bigger player. He got more air time on other stations, tv and the like. We don't seem to hear him quoted that much any more. I don't even think his crazier stuff is even quoted on MSNBC any more. I honestly do flip to most of the channels, unlike some here. I do like Stossel and do watch a couple of the others on FOX.

I think Rush is past his prime.

And, the national news media feels the need to address him. Pres. Obama felt the need to address him. The left constantly feels the need to address him. Rush can criticize a member of the GOP and they fall silent, except for Newt, who we all know is Crazy Horse.

You know, I don't think that is true. A few years back, I use to hear Chris Matthews mention him at least once a day. Now I rarely if ever hear MSNBC or Chris Mathews mention Rush. To be honest, Glenn Beck had a much louder voice when he was on Fox but now I don't even hear Beck quoted much. I think the blogosphere has really changed the game because people blog in real time and there are far more bloggers out there then radio hosts. I really do think the blogs killed the radio.
