occam - NITE in the late 90s was frontrunning its customers - when pre-mkt "market orders" were placed, they'd be on the bid in pre-mkt, their customers would get filled at the open at higher prices (which NITE had either bought pre-mkt or sold out of their inventory), and they'd pocket the difference.
here's one i found on a quick look, though i know there have to be others. i remember staying the hell out of the way pre-mkt if NITE was inside bidder and continually moving up right before the opening bell.
