Just who are the bad guys in the polygamy case?

Quote from chuck.ells:

JB,
The article you linked to, says only two (2) are pregers. Not many, but two (2)

BTW, Is it illegal for a 17yo to be pregers? Anywhere in the nation?

ROFLAO .. Dude, you can't have *had* a child without having been pregnant. Pregnant now or pregnant then all add up to 'many underage pregnant'.

I suppose as long as they have a valid marriage certificate. I wonder if she could be charged with adultry if she gave birth to any children who were not her husband.

Very good point as to how the law only works for the sect when they want the law tp protect their interests

Quote from ratboy88:

let's also remember that the age law was changed specifically to target FLDS. as i previously noted, a 16 yr old girl could legally have a 2 yr old child at the present moment.

I wonder how sensationalized this story would be if they used 14 - 15 yo as the data for their stats.?
I think that would shut a lot of people up on this issue.

Basically, I'm saying it is, and has been for a long time, socially acceptable for 16 and 17 year old girls to become parents. Not necessarily a good idea, but acceptable.

When trying to gain support for children, its likely to be more effective to use children (under the age of 16) as the data base for generating statistics .

On another note, I'm very surprised there's no 12 and 13 year old mothers. I would expect that sort of thing from an evil pedophile cult.

My problem is not with polygamy or pregnancy. I said it before, the problem is the brainwashing and the use of "its gods word" from the time these people are born to fear them into this lifestyle. Its the same fear that causes a parent of the cult to throw their child out like garbage. Thats the problem.
If people want to be polygamist I have no problem with that. But to create a society that shuts out the world and then procreates just so they have their own people to condition to one set of rules is sick.
Most girls don't menstruate till after 13 on a regular monthly cycle, so chances are they physically couldn't have a baby yet. It doesn't prove they weren't picked to be married at 13 and had sex.

i wonder what the avg age for first time mothers was around the turn of the century (1900) and before? CPS would have had a field day back then. the whole country was raping or being raped.

Cults have structure and rules. Pedophiles have preferences.
Perhaps this is why all the children were removed. It was pervasive and systemic.

did you know that there was a sex slave/pedophile ring working in the white house in the late 80's? they got their "boys" from a foster care setting.

I agree with you much more than I disagree.

The problem I have, is how this one small sect is being portrayed as some sort of a evil cult when all organized religions do the same thing to their members. The salt lake Mormons are just as guilty of little girl sex, just as guilty of indoctrination, just as guilty of brain washing.

There are no organized Abrahamic religions who are innocent of these types of indoctrinations.

As long as there are powerful organized religions, we'll see small upstarts grabbing for a piece of the pie. If any of this crapola is going to stop, the state has got to go after the big fish, Mormons – Catholics – Protestants – Evangelical, and so on.
Otherwise, all we get is entertainment.
