That's a REALLY great question. My cynical view....

1. Federal politicians are by and large LIARS AND THIEVES... they don't go to Washington to "do the people's/country's business", but rather to "get over for themselves".

2. Americans are politically and financially naive.. by design. Of all the things we learn in school and even to get a college degree, nowhere is it required we learn anything about personal finance, except to get a finance related degree. How many Americans have that? WHAT COULD BE MORE IMPORTANT TO OUR LIVES THAN TO LEARN ABOUT MONEY?

So we go bopping along, heads in the sand... believing all the BS the politicos want us to believe and rarely figuring out financial things for ourselves.

If Americans had any sense at all about money, we wouldn't have the debt concerns we have today. And we would have long ago STORMED WASHINGTON TO THROW THE BUMS OUT!

Quote from Joab:

The chart does cut through all the hype and nonsense doesn't it.

The irony is that we think other countries like (ie: South Korea) are being sold lies about their governments and how great they are but the truth is all governments lie.

What an amazing con job.

What I want to know is when these people go into politics do they all take hypnosis or brainwashing classes, seriously how do they all manage to get away with this. ?

No joab, the chart does not "cut through all the hype and nonsense". The chart simply shows the percentage debt is of the GNP. And this is hardly the measure of the "worst President ever-Economically".

In fact, your post, and title of this thread simply shows your lack of knowledge about US Presidents throughout history from an economic standpoint.

One only has to go back to Carter to find an absolute disaster economically, yet your chart doesn't show this at all. Explain that to me. Or perhaps the Nixon era, where he actually instituted wage and price controls. You don't remember this because you aren't old enough...in fact, I don't think you're even a US citizen. But had you been there, you would remember the gas rationing, the long lines, supermarkets without meat. LOL. Wage and price controls were an absolute disaster. Does that appear on your chart?

And as another poster mentioned, where the depression era. You truly believe that Bush is worse than this? If so, it speaks volumes about your lack of judgment.

Had you said that Bush was the worst President ever, then perhaps you might have had a point...except that your chart wouldn't have illustrated it, because it only illustrates the debt as a percentage of GNP.

Most of the people think Bush is a national disaster which has already happened
BUT
noone has suggested getting rid of the Jackass or how. He has 10 more months with his puggy finger hovering over the nuclear button. Maybe he will push it just to shut everyone up !
Third and last round ( war )

Way to go "OLD TRADER".

Keep these young weepersnappers in line! They obviously dont
know history or choose to ignore it...

Question for you naysayers out there.

The Dems have controlled the House and Senate now for 2 years.
How come we are not out of IRAQ? And yes, they can override the
President's veto...

They also controlled the House for 40 straight years prior to 1994 and had some democrat presidents to sign their bills into law. All those gov't programs designed to take care of everyone from cradle to grave...where's the Utopia they promised? Ah, yes, Utopia doesn't actually exist. All that time to "sock it to the man" and all that happened was the opposite of what they set out to accomplish. The bottom line is you cannot legislate wealth and prosperity...something liberals have never understood. They want to make eveyone equally miserable....the socialist way. Go to any city in the country where liberals have "ruled" through the years and notice the despair - and what is their solution: throw more money at it because if we just keep spending, eventually this social experiment will work. Like I keep saying, you libs who post on here hoping that Obama or Hillary can get elected so they'll send you a check from "taxing the rich" - it won't happen. Go out and create your own destiny.

Remembering a famous quote that goes something like... "With Capitalism, you get unequal distribution of wealth. With Socialism you get equal distribution of misery...."

Quote from gnome:

Well worth remembering every day.

And there are those misèrables who delight in other peoples misery.

"Inverted delight" in a warped sense

Now there is an excellent thought Humpy.

Declare him a national disaster and put him under the care of HLS and Michael can run the show.

I am genuinely amazed at how some people here willingly, if perhaps not knowingly, embarrass themselves to no end by supporting anything that GWB has ever done. And that these folks are not even remotely embarrassed by their president and his conduct gives me pause. True, we must all allow for a difference of opinion. But reality can only accommodate so much. The Internet is well and truly an eye-opener.
