in other countries there's no time to be depressed...last time i went to CUBA in 1999 the no shirt wearing haven't eaten meat in years making 12 bucks a month riding a bike with no shoes jumping from the malecon to the deep blue waters for entertainment men and woman were all wearing a BIG SMILE on their faces.....im not saying that there is no depression...but it is unlike that what we see in the USA.....could it be the WATER???

While I agree with you that Z10 is 95% mostly an ugly human being, who cares?
I realize that you are young and care what people think and say (whether it is about you or about a subject) but as you get older, you may find it easier to click on the ignore button. Without it, it would be impossible to peruse most internet sites.
I will tell you this though - they allowed the KKK to march down Dempster in Skokie. If they allow that, what makes you think that we have the right to ban Z10 just for being the biggest asshole on ET? What crime exactly did he commit?

That was me. The reason I mentioned the thyroid is because subtle thyroid abnormalities have been linked to hard-to-treat depression. Have a look at the following article:

The matter is still under investigation. And while the article seems to suggest that depressive states are associated with a hypothyroid condition, which is not what you appear to have, I think that the possible link is still an interesting one to consider in your future efforts to get a handle on your condition. But what do I know? Good luck.
This is true, especially for pituitary dysfunction. Synthroid or Levothyroxine does the trick.
It's most likely our lifestyles. Many people just don't follow a life path that's conducive to happiness yet still seem to believe happiness is their birthright - thus when unhappiness obtains it becomes termed "depression" and the logical link between lifestyle and consequence disintigrates. I firmly believe it's this phenomenon that's responsible for most of (though by no means all) the reported depression in the west. (I'm certainly not directing any of this at Rearden, btw.)
It seems in the rush to escape a (largely) bogus suffocating "morality", we've substituted age-old wisdom with a new-age frivolity whose dividends are difficult to identify.
If someone here is actually interested in healing his/her depression I would consider reading one or all of the following books ... and implement their advice !

I have another take on this: I don't think Z10 is an asshole. I think he actually CARES more than most.
Take the totality of his posts, he's always the unrelenting champion of the poor and downtrodden. I also believe he's of strong will and character (although i suspect there are some things in his past that he's now ashamed of and regrets. But this only served to strengthen his mettle). Yes, he's very opinionated, outspoken and passionate about certain issues, but i believe at least some of this is fueled by difficult adversity that he's eventually overcome . in other words, he's been there (where some of you are now).
I don't always agree with Z10, but I think he's a decent human being and that we are quite alike. I readily identify with him more than anyone else on this board.

RM, I don't think you really understand what hypnosis is if you say that you're immune to it.
Have you ever driven somewhere and not remembered all the turns you took to get there? have you ever been engrossed in something and been surprised that much more time than you imagined had passed? have you ever been concentrating on something (music, movie, etc.) that you don't notice your surroundings?
It is a myth that the 'weak' or those with low intellect are easier to hypnotize. Actually the more intelligent you are and the more you are able to concentrate the more capacity you have for it. Everyone is able to enter a trance - some very quickly and deeply and others light and with a bit more effort.
Anyway, just wanted to clear that up. I'm not insisting on it as a means of healing.
