If anyone you care about has severe refractory depression problems, HERE IS THE CURE:

Does R.M. know more about treating 'incurable' depression than most psychiatrists?

Quote from JohnnyK:

I'm here to learn. Can someone please explain the difference between opiates and endorphins?

JohnnyK

Molecularly, they are nearly identical.

Opiates come from the poppy plant, while endogenous opioids (endorphins, dynorphins & enkephalins ) are naturally occurring brain chemicals.

I am new here and just stumbled onto this post, it surely made an interesting read.

All I wanted to say was that RM you seem like a nice person, it saddens me to see you get so affected by others, especially Z10.

I recently attended a rigorous 10 day meditation retreat(www.dhamma.org) and learnt the power of observation without reacting.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, as long as they don't harm anyone....

I know its easier said than done, just my 2 cents...

Quote from HELLFIRE:

you needed a 10 day seminar for that??

HELLFIRE, I coulkda said that to ya :D

you must s8ign too for stony robbkins weekend in pajamas !! the power of unconsciounness within.ya gotta go :D

I am skeptical too.... Try it before commenting.... easy said than done. Meditating for 10-12 hrs each day for 10 days...... and it's free.

RM is one of the most sincere and knowledgeable individuals whose thoughts I've ever read.

I mean it sincerely.

I am one of the most skeptical and cynical people, and I think I'm a pretty good judge of character.

Cheers, RM.

I'll address Geo first:

As a highly evolved philanthropist, I think you are very close to grasping what I'm saying here...you're almost there.

Literally anybody can get addicted to heroin or oxy, and you don't need an 'addictive personality' to become a junkie. All it takes is using the drug every single day for a period of weeks- and boom! You're an addict who will do whatever is needed to fuel your habit to keep from getting junk sick. This much, I'm sure you already know.

Now comes the part you don't fully understand yet: Many junkies (possibly a minority of them, but I don't know for sure) gravitate to strong opiates because they suffer from an endorphin deficiency. They suffer serious suicidal depression, and the only known way at this point in time to bring their endorphins up to healthy levels is through opiate use. They are much better off with a needle in their arm than without one. (That is, assuming the only two choices are heroin or nothing... which is not the case with today's pharmacological advancements.)

Now here is the biggest flaw in 'drug rehab': It is commonly accepted that opiate dependency is the problem, and methadone (or much better, bupe) can be used to help the addict kick his habit, with the goal of eventually getting him completely off ALL the drugs. That last part is the major flaw here, and I know you will believe me eventually. If you 'successfully' get an endorphin deficient junkie clean, the underlying problem, which is severe depression caused by endorphin deficiency, will obviously return. The now clean patient will suffer severe 'untreatable' melancholia, be far more miserable than he was while he was using, and inevitably will either get back on opiates or kill himself.
The solution? It doesn't have to be a lifetime prescription to heroin or oxy! Buprenorphine (much preferably without the fascist mandated naloxone additive- which means subutex and NOT suboxone) , which won't even get him high, is all that is needed.

You're close, so very close to understanding what I know to be true. Bear with me here, and I know you'll soon get it.

ok thats cute...

mine was a serious suggestion though, but perhaps you already know everything there is to know about proper fasting, and what it does to the mind...

I know it made me F*n hungry.
And kinda pissed off, actually.

The motivational factor though, shouldn't be overlooked.
It most certainly does focus things, sure. Big time.
