Do you really think ACA was written with the best interests of U.S. citizens in mind?

Thats not entirely true.They knew democrats were going to pass some kind of healthcare bill and took the best deal they could get.The Insurance and Healthcare lobbies were not lobbying for changes.

Not only did the Insurance and Healthcare lobby for changes... they wrote 95% or more of ACA. They pushed this type of plan to force more private coverage on Americans (giving them more revenue) with money flowing from taxpayers to cover the "low income individuals" even before Obama got into office. Their efforts (and millions in lobbying dollars - actually the most expense lobbying effort in U.S. history) gained traction after Obama was elected.
