If that picture is not photoshopped then yes I am inclined to believe it, it makes too much sense given Obama's ego driven image agenda.
Note the exaggeration in the site quoted:
by the end of the war won for themselves the distinction of not only having damaged or destroyed 400 enemy aircraft, but of never having lost one of the bombers they escorted on missions over Europe-a rare achievement
from the more trustworthy site I gave:
The combat record of the Tuskegee Airmen speaks for itself:
â¢over 15,000 combat sorties (including 6000+ for the 99th prior to July '44)
â¢111 German airplanes destroyed in the air, another 150 on the ground
â¢950 railcars, trucks, and other motor vehicles destroyed
â¢1 destroyer sunk by P-47 machine gun fire (Lt. Pierson's flight)
â¢sixty-six pilots killed in action or accidents
â¢thirty-two pilots downed and captured, POWs
â¢150 Distinguished Flying Crosses earned
â¢744 Air Medals
â¢8 Purple Hearts
â¢14 Bronze Stars
(25 bombers lost to enemy aircraft)
A good record but by no means extra special or war changing- 98 pilots lost versus 111 aerial kills (plus 150 on the ground also). We are talking about a wing of about 80 aircraft with 111 aerial kills in a war that featured tens of thousands of German aircraft.
