probably 20% of people who vote republican are evangelicals. They vote republican because republicans are anti gay and anti abortion. When the republican party becomes socially liberal, they risk losing 20%, who will then have no reason to vote republican, because they are not fically conservative and will just vote democrat for the free hand out. Either way, evangelicals are dying off. And so are the fiscal liberals. Hillary Clinton said the greatest threat to our security is the debt. She's done a lot of business outside USA and knows we need a lot of money or a very large military.

In addition, O'Reilly reported on a Gallup poll recently which stated, "nearly half of all Americans are willing to vote for a Socialist president".
It took ~100 years, but the Progressives and Socialists now have a majority in the USA.... and they bought it with other citizens' money.

if you want to see what a totally capitalistic fascist state capitalist society looks like, spend some time in Mexico. An average American or anybody with money can live like a king. It is a right wing paradise. Nobody is lazy or unemployed. From the time you are six years old until you are a dying grey haired old lady, everybody works all the time, doing something, anything, even if it is just collecting firewood in the forest for yourself and a little extra to sell in the market to buy some food.
And most enterprising youths go into the drug trade because just like any right wing republican would advise, "Go where the money is."
other than the gun laws where all firearms are illegal (exept for hunting in rural areas) Mexico is is a right wing paradise. No social security, no medicare, no food stamps and low taxes (taxes are paid in the form of bribes.)
In O'Reilly's memo last night, he mentioned that the Founders had reasonable expectations... if America's experiment in democracy were to succeed... the citizenry would have to "do its part". That is, (1) obey the laws, (2) work for their daily bread, and (3) be informed/pay attention so that competent and honest politicians were elected to govern.

Now we need a benevolent dictator, that should last until he dies, and then a power struggle, maybe a cival war, an oppressive regime, and a revolution, and then we can usher in another two hundred years of the golden age of democracy
