RS,
I am calling a PC violation on your liberal lawyer wife for driving a Durango. That is an SUV favored by prison guards, oil company execs and hunting guides. She should be ashamed!!!!
ps. Tom Daschle drives an Escalade.
I agree. But she is a bit nuts.
Her reasoning was that she has a long commute every day. Boca to West Palm Beach. She usually takes I-95, which is a pretty bad road as far as traffic, construction, etc, and wanted a large car. She liked driving the Lexus wagon more than the Saab, so she figured bigger was better. And one time, when she had put deisel fuel in my Saab, and had to get a loaner, they gave her a Durango. She liked it, and that was the end of the story.
She took a 3 year lease on it, and I am sure she will tire of it soon. But she likes the size, she likes the V8, and she did not get the optional 3rd row of seating, so there is plenty of room for her weekend gardening hobby.
Still, you are right. It is not a car that seems to make the political statement that would be consistent with her other (even to me) over the top liberal image. But it IS made in America, so that is all I can tell you about her choice of cars. Other than she is somewhat of a control freak, and she likes being in a BIG vehicle, but not a too noticible one (like an Escalade or Hummer). Not that they are in our budget, but not her thing anyway. I never pretended to really understand her thought processes all that well. I am sure if Israel made an SUV, she would own that. (Anyone remember the Sabra? Isreali, but a bit small! Never knew anyone who owned one, but used to see them occasionally when I was in High School).
Peace,

RS
