Italy many old and unwell people being kept alive longer by great health care, uk/usa they’d be dead aleady.

Next 3 days will be telling for uk, italy and spain, usa NY close, but area others new and forming, locking down too soon so ages to normal.

Uks pretty nice, 1:30pm for pre open and news, 2:30 real open, 9pm finish not great but just sea inbetween, further east makes the end time stupid.

I liked cyprus +2hrs much better for trading DAX 10am start, and US close 11pm was handy aswell, lunch time slow was my going out food time.

You are more pessimitic than i was this morning. I thought with lockdowns the US would be less than 100K dead. The UK is expected to level off way less than 20,000.

But if Fauci is saying 100,00 to 200,000 dead, he is getting the US population prepared for the fact things are going to get much much worse.

If the US is doing such a shit job at the lockdowns then the death count will be closer to 1million.

It seems the US being 50 different states and 1 federal govenrment is working against the US in doing a proper lockdown.

The UK is pretty much like 3 or 4 US states. Much easier for Boris to control.

If Boris wanted to quarantine any city he can just it get passed easily.

CV is just another flu, just on a larger scale for how many die, somewhere between 25 and 50 times larger scale.

Im calculating CV is Flu times 36.

In the US about around 40 million infections per year for flu. 250K need hospital treatment. 40 thousand die.

CV would be 240 million infections. Most of those would have light symptoms. 'Just' 10 million would require hospital treatment. Over 1 million would die.

CV can also cause more lung damage than Flu, so for the worst hit it will feel much worse than Flu.

My analysis is CV death rate is 6 times Flu death rate (0.6% vs 0.1%)
Infection rate is also about 6 times yearly Flu average (eg 40million flu infections per year in US vs 240 million for CV).

If nothing was done then this outbreak of CV would be like 36 years of Flu happening at once.

Lockdowns aim to slow it down and reduce the numbers hitting hospitals at any one time.

Then remove restrictions and let the next batch hit the hospitals.

Keep repeating until a vaccine is found.

However the problem is even with this strategy hospitals are likely to run out of ventilators and ICU beds because the demand is still too high.

The mathematical modeling the White House presented suggests doing so could save hundreds of thousands of lives. Without community mitigation, the models predict, 1.5 million to 2.2 million Americans could die of covid-19, the disease the virus causes, though no time frames or other details were provided for the figures.
