This has always been amazing to me. His defense apparently is that he disclosed it to the FBI Ethics office and they approved. They said he didn't need to recuse himself. So the only honest conclusion you can draw is that they are crooked as well. Anyone can see his wife taking a massive contribution for a relatively minor office is problematic under the circumstances. The really surprising thing is just how brazen they were. The whole thing was based on the assumption Hillary would win and the media would ignore it.

There seems to be only one person we can be absolutely certain crossed the line when it comes to ethical behavior, and that is by his own admission. What could be a more reliable source than that?

so how much did McCabes wife take from the Clintons bag man? does that difference change the substance of argument at all? would it be okay if his wife took 700 g but not 750g?

True about the appearance part. However, the lefties should not pick up on that and start arguing that he just had the appearance at worst. He had about as real a conflict as you can get. 750K to his wife.
Also, in addition to the fact that comey should not have allowed it, there are reports that the IG has issue with McCabe not disclosing it himself. I wont replay it, because I spelled it out yesterday, but McCabe went through a little period when he was not deputy director but was in the DC local office and that is when he got approval/guidance from the Ethics Committee when he disclosed the wife connection/donation thing. But he apparently did not re-connect with the Ethics Office when he moved over to Deputy Director of the entire Bureau and oversaw the investigaton. He tried to argue that the ethics office knew about and ok'ed his arrangement but that was before he took the new position. Then he tried to argue that by the time he took the position his wife had lost in the primary so there was no conflict. Yeh, right "you gave me 750k six months ago so I am not biased in your favor because you didn't give me anything this month." Not gonna work.
In addition, I will add that even if there had been no money passed there was still a conflict of interest.
The lefty media likes to argue that all employees are entitled to political beliefs and their spouses too, and that's fine. But his wife was involved in the party machinery and directly stood to benefit from it. It is well established that politicians who are not elected but the president of their party is- end out or stand highly eligible to be appointed to a position by the President. McCabes wife is right there in the DC area. Do you think that if she wanted to continue on in dem party politics or an appointment in an administration, do you think her chances would be better if Hillary were elected or Trump.
Don't think too hard and hurt yourself. If McCabe wanted to keep things peppy for his wife and his family or a future run for his wife, he needed to see Hillary in there. Again, my point being that even if no money passed, then the level of partisanship was too high for him to not tip the scales- which of course he did, which does not help his case either.
This goes beyond just having a political opinion as an employee. In the same way that Strzok and Page are entitled to have political opinions but when you take action in your official position that is guided by political wishes, then that is a nuther thing altogether.

Before you get too persnickety, be sure that you understand that there were two bundles. One directly from the dnc or dnc pass through money to the state and then down, and another from a Dem PAC run by Terry McLaughliff/sp. The media varies in the amount reported depending on whether they are just reporting the dnc money, or the dem pac money, or both. Its up there though- 700k plus.
your logic is so compelling it shows anyone arguing to the contrary to be a partisan clown or deficient in thinking skills.
