Red wine may fight deafness.
Moderate consumption of the popular drink, or aspirin, could delay the onset of age-related deafness and reduce hearing loss caused by loud noise.

MODERATE consumption of red wine or aspirin may delay the onset of age-related deafness and reduce hearing loss caused by loud noise and some antibiotics.

The delicate hairs of the inner ear which are vital for hearing can be damaged by the oxygen free radicals produced by normal cellular processes throughout life and in response to loud noise and exposure to antibiotics. Antioxidants such as resveratrol, which is found in red wine and green tea, or salicylate, the active ingredient of aspirin, help to neutralise these free radicals, so might be expected to protect against some of this damage.

Question for all you expert axe meisters:

How do Angus Young (AC/DC) and Kirk Hammett (Metallica) rank?
Technically? Angus... pretty easy. Hammett... a little more technical, but nowhere near the Vai's/Johnson's, etc.

Yngwie is coming to town in 2 weeks, and although I am not that crazy about him, I will give him a chance... :)

Update on Yngwie:

I went to see him, and I wasn't disappointed, because I wasn't expecting much. It has nothing to do with his ability to play, I am just not into his style either technically or musically.

So I guess the Vai show is still the best as far as I have seen Johnson, Satriani, Vai and Yngwie all play...

Here is a beautiful song played even more beautifully by Vai:

LOL! Was his Rolex and ridiculous jewelry still hanging all over the place?! I would prefer if he just played instrumentals. His singers/ lyrics annoy me. I still believe he plays with a "flare" the others lack, but prefer the melodic playing of Satriani, even though he's not in the same technical league as the others mentioned... (plus it's easier for me to play along with!!)
Attempting the others just feels like "work"! They're all great. It's just a matter of opinion and taste, really.

Malmsteen is the greatest electrical guitarist in the history of mankind.

He plays with super-human virtuosity as well as deep passion and feeling.

I can understand why so many people find Yngwie annoying. Todays music has predominantly an out-of-tune muddled and drab sound, so Yngwie's luminous lightworks-style performances just "blinds" acoustically the average person.

People have to sit down, really listen to him and train their ears to finally appreciate his intricate and genious playing.

If I had to throw away my entire CD collection except for one artist, I would choose Yngwie.

He's also a truly unique character with a strong and impetuous personality, which is funnily more italian than swedish.

I laugh when people say he plays too many notes, he's arrogant, blah blah all those guys are just jealous he's the best guitarist ever, drives ferraris and he's married to a hot british model.

Malmshstein and his kind are to MUSIC what Brian Bozworth was to football. All fluff.

Being a Seahawk fan, I agree with the Boz statement. I always
wondered if he would of been any good w/o the steroids...

Or just another 90lb. weakling that would of never made into college football...

Sorry for your pain. I've often wondered why so much emphasis is placed on baseball/roids, and football basically get's a free ride even though probably a good 90% of them are juiced... But that's another thread.

What would be really funny is if they tested musicians for drugs.
If you are on drugs you cannot enter the studio or play onstage.

I guess that would of took Jimi Hendrix out of the game.

And quite a few others...

Dweezil (sp?) Zappa on a track about Steve Vai (sp?) on one of the 'shut up and play yer guitar' albums I think.(Haven't listened to it for many years,as you might have guessed).Zappa himself was a terrific player.
