Quote from jeb9999:

Sep expires Friday at 9:30 EDT.

"How do the quarterly E-mini futures settle and when is the last time to trade before expiration?

a3 E-mini quarterly contracts expire at the same time and to the same price as their larger counterpart contracts. For quarterly futures contracts, trading can occur up to 8:30 a.m., Chicago time, on the third Friday of the month."
If you take AH into consideration, the info you gave is correct. But I should caution that, from here on out, volume for September contract will diminsh significantly with the passing of the days. As such, I strongly doubt you would find anyone to take your trade in the AH on the last day of the contract. It would be in your best interest to close your position before then.

Not out of the realm of possibility, ES 1229-1232 has some magnetic market profile charateristics.
But why would you concern yourself with that right now?

Since I cannot daytrade until probably next month, may as well do a single for the day. :)

That makes you 7-years older, and 7-years wiser for the rest of us. :p

On 9/11, I have lost some dear friends.

That makes me not willing to take any short side trades during this week.

Too busy for the most part intraday.

I got a long from 1227.50 but for journal purposes we can use 1228.50 since I'm a little late posting.

Targets 1249 and 1262.
Stop 1208
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stop to 1229, slightly lowered my first target to 1247.25

Stopped out on the above trade for a few ticks.

Reentering this trade, however using ESZ8 now.
Long 1227.00
Stop 1219.00
Targets 1247.25 and 1256.00

I agree. I trade the new front month on roll over day.

It is just that procrastinators need to know the exact exchange rules. I would never hold an index futures contract to expiration as the cash settlement prices using the opening figures tend to be rather funky.
