You appear to be misreading this.
What he said yesterday is what he has to say. He has to hold to the line that he does not "plan" on putting money in Fannie and Freddie, because if he said anything other than that he would spook the market. Everyone knows he will flood them with cash when they finally tell the truth about needing it. He doesn't want to give them money so he goes around telling everyone that they are fine and don't need any help, but those statements are purely political and have nothing to do with reality.

i agree,its just the gyst that the houses may be short up here and want to massage the public opinion that we are no longer going up on the fact that all the housing problems are now trivial
