It should be obvious why the word "alarmism" is included. It is because man-made CO2 is not causing the global temperature to rise. The AGW nonsense pushed by alarmists is pure rubbish and not supported by scientific fact - no matter how much they alter the collected data and tweak their failed models.
Two separate issues.
And your point is? Mine is the universe doesn't care. Maybe we're accelerating our demise by a few hundred years, maybe not. Means nothing on the scale of time we're talking about. Mass extinction is part of the process. Our time is coming. Humans as we know ourselves will be gone and something else will evolve. This is how the Creator wants it. The mystery remains. Men have been predicting the end since the beginning. Fretting over such nonsense is counter productive. Your life-force will continue elsewhere.
But the universe does care, Cap'n, since we care and we are not separate from the universe.
To the degree that we are influencing our environment for the worse, to that degree we can respond. If CO2 is in fact a pollutant in the broader sense of the term, then it simply joins a long list of previous pollutants we have recognized and responded to.
At one scale you are of course correct. We do not presently have the power to, for example, divert a major (and inevitable) asteroid strike, so we'll have to passively accept that fate for now.
It's like you enjoy saying things that are wrong just to get a reaction. Some would call it being a troll.

Coming from Chicken Little who continues to start new "The Sky is Falling" AGW treads, for no other reason than to regurgitate the watermelon drivel and maintain his facade of intellect, this is somewhat amusing.
But you forget an important thing. Everything I am saying is right and nearly everything gwb says about AGW is wrong. Very wrong. Important difference.
