Is this supposed to surprise any thinking person? The earth has cycled through several climate and other catastrophic changes. All of these preceding modern man. More catastrophic changes will come. We can do nothing to prevent these. We may accelerate one, but the time frame of acceleration is statistically insignificant given the eons of time we're talking about. A hundred, and thousand years, has no value in the overall scheme of things. Survival is unlikely regardless of what we do.
We want clean air and water to improve our current standard of living, but to think we can do something to prevent the next catastrophic change is absurd.
