Do you use a Mac?

Unless you have good reason for an Intel mac like you need need to run Windows VM or some other specific software, i would not touch an Intel Mac these days.

I’ll shift gears, what PC brands/models have the least hardware issues? In the past decade I’ve had two Acers (one good one bad), an ASUS, a Samsung, and a Lenovo. Had issues with all of them.

I'd avoid Lenovo for now because of their poor component quality, it won't last. HP EliteBooks are good.

How so? I love my MBP, it’s a functional system, while windows is infuriating in every way possible (rebooting in the middle of the day because they want to install updates, pushing adds, failing to re-connect, perpetual watch for viruses etc). There is a reason why most software developers prefer Apple machines

All the things you mentioned that Windows does are configurable.
I'm running Windows since the beginning of time, and my rigs don't do that (install updates, pushing adds, failing to reconnect, watch for viruses, etc.). Maybe you don't know how to use it and/or to configure it to avoid all that nuisance.

I'm not saying that Windows is better or worst than Mac.
It always depends on your specific needs.

Thinkpads, the old IBM, are now Lenovo. I don’t know if it’s changed — mines 18 months old, but it’s rock solid. Allegedly you can drop it and throw a bottle of wine all over it and it’ll be fine, though forgive me if I don’t try and prove it to you

Horses for courses I guess. For music it’s amazing, graphics the screen is top notch. But in an office environment it drives me crackers. Loads of minor frustrations which multiply like ebola. As rb7 says you can with a bit of work stop all that shenanigans with windows. For trading I wouldn’t go anywhere near it, possibly though cos I’ve learnt to make windows work seamlessly and I’ve no desire to do it all over again

Windows can be optimized to work like you guys are saying, but that doesn't address the hardware issues that drive me bonkers. I'm not a power user and really only use my laptop for trading, Word, Excel, and wasting time on the internet. The walled garden of Macbooks will work well for that I think. And my iPhone/iPad will work much better with a Mac than a PC. I still haven't pulled the trigger but I'm probably going to.
