Death of the Trump brand?

When the campaigning is over and Trump loses (in a sane and civilized world), I'm wondering how Trump's present conduct will affect the Trump brand. While Trump is clearly appealing to his base (with "base" doing double duty in meaning here), this political base essentially comprises yahoos that are not really the intended market for his various business interests, apart from his foray into some mainstream consumer markets and his vacuous TV show. (Although, truth be told, I don't see how anyone with money and self-respect would want to be associated with the Trump brand anyway.)

I don't see how Trump's flirtation with totalitarianism will do his principal business interests any good. That he has captivated an ugly hoard of goose-stepping yahoos is hardly a plus. When the dust settles, I can't help but think that the Trump brand will have about as much appeal as a narrow mustache.

You want to see blame, wait until the jihadis pull off a big op like the Paris one here. Particulalry if some refugees or immigrants are involved, as they surely will be.

I never really liked Trump, but now I see him and his family differently. Trump never really appealed to the elites anyway, so i see minimal damage and some upside for his brand.

It won't hurt him with his NY area base, and they're not goose steppers. It will hurt him with moderate voters, but doubt he gets that far. A Perot moment will happen before long.

Trump will last until late next spring for sure. If things stay quiet on the terrorist front, he will probably fade. One terrorist attack on the homeland next spring or early summer, and you can say hello to president Trump. He'll be unbeatable. No democrat will have a chance. The we'll see if it's a be careful what you wished for scenario.

Trumps the only one who actually says anything. He opens his mouth for 2 minutes and the next three days are discussions of how it will affect him in the polls. Then a few days later he opens his mouth again. He sets the agenda and the other candidates say me two me three. Meanwhile Hillary gets a free ride. I guess you could say he's a leader? Wherever he goes the media and the other candidates follow.

"Elite" is not a word I care to use, as it means different things to different people. But my understanding is that he deals in fairly high end real estate (= people with money). I think there may be a disconnect between that and his Duck Dynasty political base. Whereas he may have been forgiven for his ostentation, I'm not sure the people-with-money end of his business will be as yielding to his latest political views. At least not in the aggregate.
