DC Statehood Would Be Unconstitutional

And here, you reveal the real reason that you are advocating for statehood. If it were just about representation, it could be ceded back to Maryland and those folks would be Maryland residents. This is the proper way and also has a precedent in that land was ceded back to Virginia in the past. However, I rather think that we just leave DC the way it is.

The people who live and pay taxes in the current DC dont want to be Virginia or Maryland citizens.

Doesn't change the fact that it is Constitutional
It is in no way Constitutional. DC is land that was ceded from Maryland and Virginia. Areas that cease to be part of DC would go back to the state that ceded it initially. Furthermore, there is no reason to make a city/area of 68 sq miles a state. This is not in the spirit of The Constitution. We may as well make NY, Chicago and LA into states. By the way, that would help Republicans but I am against it.

Then they are stuck being DC residents without representation in Congreff unless a Constitutional Amendment is ratified.

Nothing in The Constitution says that. The Constitution does say Congress can make new states.

The area having more residents than Wyoming is a reason to make it a state.

The fact that they pay more taxes than many states is a reason to make it a state.
