Current Price for a Bloomberg Terminal?

A horrible cut down version of Eikon. News is restricted, certain news content such as the fx specific news column completely locked, many analytics functions are locked, api does not work, what you get with this is charting and access to delayed global data. You get the same with tradingview for a fraction of the price. I have used and tried this and was not a happy customer at all.

Try www.metastock.com Xenith a rebadged Reuters EIKON for $99 a month. If you need financial messaging then https://symphony.com/ is $20 a month.

It depends on your account size. If you think you're getting information that translates into an extra 1% return on an account of $10M+, it pays for itself. If your account is much smaller, you would need much more added value for Bloomberg to be worth it.

As it is, I never did subscribe last year, but might do so in the future. For the moment, I think my time is better spent working with all the data I already have. Everyone's situation is different, though.

For sure. What type of info does it have that you can't get anywhere else?

"Timing is everything."

They have been getting it for decades across 1000's of screens.

Someone sure must think it is worth it, otherwise Mr B would never have made billionaire status.

That's why I'm asking. What are they offering that other services aren't?

Realtime CDS and a host other fixed income pricing information and analytics. You cant find that elsewhere aside Eikon. BBG messenger is a huge sales point as well. Proprietary and only usable by terminal users. Global access to historical data of any kind, hundreds third party contributors, Realtime data from any exchange in the world at no markup.... And plenty others.

If you have one Bloomberg you can get unlimited Bloomberg messenger accounts for $10 a month each.

What is your point? You still need a terminal license. And the additional accounts have to be assigned to individuals in the same entity. It's still a million times better than any symphony account that hardly anyone uses.

Edit, just asked a friend who works at BBG and she never heard of such. Have a link?

My friend mentioned that this offer was discontinued and it was from the outset only designed to provide middle and back office personnel at investment banks the ability to use the messenger to communicate with front office staff, all other functions were turned off. Even the messenger contacts were only front office staff. That's from someone who currently works at BBG in a senior managerial role.

But to the point, bbg only makes sense for those with a certain investment amount and expense accounts otherwise the cost becomes prohibitively expensive as percentage of aum. For anyone who thinks magic is returned in exchange for a handsome amount of money, magic only occurs in our heads at the very most. It's not purchasable, especially not for "only" 2000+ a month.

Two individuals sharing a shared terminal? Yes then you are sitting in the same room and are more or less the same "entity". They have mechanisms to detect remote desktop or other tricks to get around this.

No they don’t. I have a Bloomberg terminal at home and I GoToMyPC into it all day long from my office pc. But practically only one person can use it.

they have two types of logins: Bloomberg anywhere which is tied to a person and Bloomberg (something) which is tied to a terminal. The latter is shared. There was even one at the US Air terminal in LaGuardia at one point!
