It was not randomized or blinded, but hard to put all of that reduction down to bias - especially when it aligns with other studies.

It's a forum glitch...no need to be paranoid about it and it's been discussed before in the past down in the Feedback section.

Thus, if someone (person A) subscribes to a thread and later someone else (person B) puts person A on ignore...
  • Person A will still get immediate alerts when a new message is posted in the thread even if it's a message by person B.
In addition, when the glitch does not occur...there's another issue. GWB could be following someone else (person C) in this thread and that person is then in several quick replies with you...GWB could then see what's going with person C while logged out but then sees your replies to person C.

Thus, he's not intentionally trying to navigate around your ignore it's just that you're replying to someone else that does not have GWB on ignore (e.g. wrbtrader replies to you but does not have GWB on ignore). Both the above-described situations happen to me and I've complained a few times over the years to Baron about it but there will never be a fix to those ignore issues but Baron likes it this way.
  • I think he setup the forum like this to encourage views / clicks on threads. It makes the forum more attractive to sponsors.
My point, most people read the forum prior to logging in. Therefore, it mutes the purpose of the ignore function. In my opinion, the ignore function will work the way it was designed if people stayed logged in 24/7....the latter occurring is not likely because ET is an abusive forum of misinformation. :D

Most of the people I have on ignore are either racists or typically give likes to message posts by racists or people that are not Americans but pretending to be Americans in their political debates.

This forum is just strange. Seriously, I have people announcing that they're going to put me on ignore because my message posts like this one are too long to read. I've had that done about 9 or 10 times to me...I have been put on ignore for writing long messages posts like this message post. :D
  • There are people here that threaten to put me on ignore or harass me because I refuse to talk about my trade method here at ET. I then respond quickly via putting them on ignore. :rolleyes:
Many years ago, I once had a moderator delete my messages that were in French (but still on topic) because this is an English-based forum. I've even had messages down in the Feedback section deleted by Baron himself when I was replying to someone complaining about the ignore function...three consecutive times my messages were deleted without him explaining why until I pm him and those messages were on a topic too although he disagreed.
  • I view this forum as a place to vent only and nothing more. Your opinions or what you view as facts will not change the mind of any other member. Others use this forum for more insidious/deceitful purposes because they can not post the same shit elsewhere because it gets deleted or they get banned (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, labeled as misinformation).

Not saying you didn't; and not saying it's not true, but I never heard him say that.

I do recall him saying that it's a glitch in the software, software that he can't easily modify. I got the impression that he would have to replace the forum software to deal with the issue.

I know there's a lot of threads down in the Feedback section about the problems with the "ignore button".

At least he's aware of the problem and not pretending it's not a problem.

GWB and many others are prolific posters. I don't pay attention too much to your and his interaction. Yet, you're correct, after a few times of such by a veteran poster... it's not a forum glitch.

It's something more personal. Then again...this is the political section and anything goes in this section.

I wouldn't worry about it too much because you can very easily just truly ignore him via not responding at all.
