Coronavirus DEBATE: Why are Americans dumb as fck?

Get a few plastic bags say three, the tough type they use for bags of wood screws in hardware stores and loop a big zip tie through them. Place that your your roommate's head and yank the cable tie tight. He may able to claw through one or two but not all three bags.

Dump him in his room. Blame antifa.

Suicide him, I’d say. As fun as that might be, writing his suicide note would be the best. If I’m feeling creative later on, I’ll write a proposed, tongue-in-cheek suicide note for him, subject to ET members input!

Epstein his ass.

You are probably going to contract it anyway now so make sure you are taking centrum. More viral load exposure can mean a worse infection outcome, don't drop your guard until you are certain it is corona you have.

What are you even talking about.

The worst effected cities are the urban cesspools run by Democrats (LA, NY, etc). Places that had smaller and weaker lockdowns were comparatively unaffected.

If you want to stay inside that's fine. Allow your immune system to weaken to the point it doesn't even work anymore. Continue to comply with your state officials while they destroy your small businesses and pass more and more dollars to the Waltons and Bezos. Why is it that I couldn't get a hair cut but I could drive to Walmart to buy shit I didn't need? Why is it that I couldn't see my doctor for my yearly physical but I could consume product from Bezos? Why is it that I was encouraged to consume product from MegaCorp but I couldn't go to the local grocer to buy locally sourced eggs and meat?

The coronavirus is the perfect catalyst for the new age robber baron to truly shine and everyone who's afraid of the sniffles is complicit in their pillaging of American small business.

People are acting like a few hundred thousand people dying of some virus is new. The regular flu kills about as many people per year. Call me up when it's 2/3 as deadly as the Spanish Flu. The probability of having "permanent disability" from COVID-19 is still significantly less than Polio. I'll take my chances.

and remember "we're here with you" and don't forget put on your 3M brand mask and use your Purell brand hand sanitizer early and often:

There are emotional places for the public to be between fear and don't give a shit fuck ya'll.

Public concerned as government and people they actually trust say this could kill a loved one, are worried but understand that they can't get something they are not exposed to and in time there may be a life saving breakthrough.

A couple of gruesome murders happen in an increasingly seen as fascist police state. People have some free time to think and better, masks, to hide their faces from fascist cameras. Figure now or never and protest.

Eventually in the distant future hopefully public die and go to heaven having shown teeny bit of courage, compassion and sacrifice when others needed it.
I'm more of a nihilistic type when it comes to who will sacrifice what for whom, especially as groups and organizations are concerned. They'll all sell out to the highest bidder in the end.
Police brutality and overreach is a problem. So is government overreach and I have never in my lifetime seen a more clear abuse of power than has been enacted by governors and mayors during this manufactured Covid crisis.
You're right about one thing. Millions of people locked up with nothing to do but think. Idle mind equals devils playground and all that. We've been sitting on a powder keg for quite some time. Guess it's gonna blow and we'll all go to hell together believing we were on the right side.

The ingredients of a really large spike up in virus cases are idiots like these posters who think they are youthful, strong immunity, virus won't get them where they live. Personally I'm in my 50s and have a great immunity system ( going off a lifetime of relative health ), and I don't chance the virus in any unnecessary way. Going to the beach without a mask is not a smart decision nobody really needs their time at the beach. It was confirmed before the main US outbreak that a group of young people who partied in Spring Break a huge number of them got the virus and spread it to their communities.

How many times have I told you doomers the shutdown was useless once we had hospital bed capacity.

I must have told nine morons this a dozen times...
that we are getting the virus coming out of shutdown is proof the shutdown was massively destructive and accomplished almost nothing... (once we isolated the high risk and hospital bed capacity)

We can't hide from the thing forever and it obviously did not go away and we may never get a vaccine.

So far our results are no better than Sweden's and if you doomers are correct about the impending doom...You are actually proving Sweden's approach was the correct approach.

You have to learn to think in systems. Your IQs are clearly deficient if you can't understand the data.

Japan did not shutdown their economy and still doing fine. Compare their infection and death rates with the US. Of course, everyone wears masks. One reason people do not want masks is if you are older, it makes breathing harder because it deprives you of oxygen. So, use it in public places with lots of people like grocery stores, malls, hospitals. Remove it when you get to your car. Take a hot bath when you get home. Heat kills the Corona Virus in the oft chance you got some Corona Virus droplets on your body. That should suffice for the most part. Now, let the other younger people do their jobs and allow them to earn a living.

Not to mention they need to move the goal post up to cancer. This whole "lightnings, car accidents, the flu kill more people per year" argument is outdated:

Virus needs to spread, more cases the better at this point. Cases rising but long hospitalizations and dying still in decline. What does that mean?
Much of the truly vulnerable population has died. Earlier identification of virus leading to better treatment protocols. Doctors becoming more familiar with different variables of sick patients has resulted in more people surviving. None of this can happen if everyone is locked up waiting for a vaccine which is months away at best. Bottom line, if you become infected probability of survival is extremely high, EXTREMELY HIGH.
Use whatever protocols you believe to be prudent, but we must go out into the world of uncertainty as we do every day with every decision we make.

="KCalhoun, post: 5132182, member: 51524"]With the highest deaths in the world from coronavirus and cases spiking to record highs....

Why are so many Americans so stupidly suicidal and stubborn? Even Fauci said there's an anti-science bias.
It can’t happen to me. I am young and invincible. It only happens to losers.

  • Unlike smart folks in Asian countries,, Americans don't all wear masks
  • It is inconvenient, like seatbelts. Besides, what I spend on this virus cuts into my drinking and cigarette money.
  • States reopen, see huge case increases and fall to close
  • Maybe Corona, with it’s r0 of 2.2 to 3.5 will not infect the general population this time.
  • Political leaders fail to wear masks
  • To instill public confidence that it is safe for citizens to go out and spend money.
  • No standard testing and contact tracing
  • I will not have my privacy intruded upon.
  • Seriously wtf
  • God bless America!
Scientific evidence and death counts are facts, why doesn't everyone follow the rules?
Meh, one person’s scientific evidence are another person’s fake news.

Help me understand, as it's baffling
Please allow me to provide you a case study from my own household:

I am a interstate truckdriver who rents a room in a house with 4 other roommates. Two of the roommates work at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). One of these roommates tested positive for Coronavirus last week, after being sick for a week. The other roommate who works at the airport said he just got tested. Our landlord lives with us. I thought the landlord was responsible because he has a substantial job that requires security clearence. When it comes to managing a hotzone where we live, not so much. The coronavirus victim has free reign of the house and fully takes advantage of it by spending most of his time in the living room watching TV. I informed the landlord of published practices and procedures regarding managing coronavirus in one’s household. Yesterday, I had a pick up of air freight at DFW that I delivered straight through to San Antonio, TX airport. No forklift drivers, cargo handlers, signalmen, security guards, or administrative personnel where wearing any PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) except high visibility vests. The signalmen may have been wearing hearing protection. Why was this?

1. My landlord does not want to offend or inconvenience the Coronavirus victim. The landlord seems weak-minded to me and does not seem to understand his civil liability exposure. The landlord’s initiative in learning more Coronavirus is about non-existent.

2. The Coronavirus victim is self-centered and feels justified in using the common areas as he sees fit. “I paid my money...”.

3. As far as airport workers not even wearing a mask, it seems they feel their exposure risk is low. Even if they are infected, their attitude seems along the lines of “it’s not like I’ll die or something”. Also, there seems to be a breakdown of containment efforts by the authorities here.

Based on the way Coronavirus is portrayed in US media, if you are old and sick you have a much higher chance of dying than being younger. The problem is, there are intermediate effects of the virus that can cause permanent damage. Massive cellular death in various internal organs, even if you survive, are not likely to be repaired completely, especially if you are older. As a bonus, there may be higher cancer rates years after exposutre as has been seen in other viruses. Combined with evidence there is no long term immunity to this disease and no seasonal breaks from it should be worrying more people than it is. A term that should be more often associated with Coronavirus is “Disability Years”. Further, since immunity, if any, is less than 3 months after exposure, hopes for future vaccines are seemingly futile. As it is, current flu vaccines have a protection factor of maybe 1/3 to 1/2. Then a new strain comes along next flu season anyway.

A lot of eyes are watching how the United States and other countries are handling the Coronavirus crisis. Some of these eyes belong to terrorist groups. Do I really need to complete the thought here?

Personally, I wear a face mask, goggles, and gloves. Two pairs of gloves are best. Care in placing, removing, and disposal PPE are important as well. Those smart enough to drive are smart enough to wear PPE properly.

I suppose directives that include requirement to wear PPE and instructions on proper use would admit we have a problem. So if we don’t admit we have a problem, it will go away? If we don’t test, people will not be diagnosed with Coronavirus? If no more people are diagnosted with Coronavirus, it means we’ve beaten it?

God bless America!

Brilliant, thoughtful intelligent post.

And yet deniers persist (RIP)

Congratulations on linking fake news. You need total disease burden to consider this data:

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/past-seasons.html

35,520,883 infections of Influenza in 2019. Estimated deaths between 26,339 and 52,664.

COVID-19 IFR is presently estimated at 0.863% in the NYC. Less than one percent of cases result in a fatality with present data. Which means since NYC has the highest disease burden the IFR is almost too small to be measured in basically every other part of the US. This is still 8x higher than the Flu but infinitesimally small. You have a higher probability of fatality going for a jog in the park or tripping down a set of stairs in both cases.

Maybe one day you'll learn what a primary source is. 3M and Purell thank you for your service, however. Decision analysis is a hard subject for people. Especially when you don't understand how to divide by 100.
