Coronavirus DEBATE: Why are Americans dumb as fck?

And again your failure to understand exponential growth shines through

Bottom line just like gun deaths and climate change if Americans want to take on these risks and ignore science/data they have to accept the consequences. So many "experts" on here talk with certainty on the risks in an area even the top experts are unsure of the true risks and worst case outcomes.

There are people who didn't die, and are going through rehab of a serious nature. There is also a lot on unknowns on the long term impact on people's health given that there can be lung damage that lasts at least 10 years. I'm no medical person but plenty of experts in the field are very clear you don't want to catch this virus if you can avoid it. So it's incredibly stupid to see people like "Jem" actively encouraging "low risk" people to catch the virus.

His and others plans to do so is working in the US. Yesterdays stats showed something like 380 new cases in Canada and 33,000 new cases in the US. It's a rapid spike suggesting many people are not taking appropriate precautions.

Maybe Americans will get lucky on this, roll the dice sacrifice a lot of older and frail people and move on ( immoral on some levels imo ). However, if this gets worse, it's on the "Jem"'s of the world they are practically daring the virus to have a huge second wave worse then the first.

You can pretend the lock down wasn't needed but that is exactly the kind of thinking that allowed the virus to get a strong position in the US in the first place ( as much as 3 times worse then Canada from day one ).

It's surprising to see some people disagreeing with the medical profession. The deniers use faulty logic, when hospitalizations are skyrocketing.

I'm honestly puzzled, I'd think traders are smart enough to be concerned.

proof please...

ICU beds are the big indicator...

but... CLI (Covid 19 Like ILLness to Emergency Departs dropped again... as of June 13th to the lowest ever recorded on the chart.

Its all very Darwinian.

Me? Living completely normally. Literally not a thought about Wuhan.

What I've learned is that I share a country with some very fearful people. But I'm not going to criticize them. Last week someone I know died on a ventilator in S.Africa of Covid. His wife is stuck down there with the boat and is devastated. So its a bit more real for me today. When they put you on that machine your chance of survival is about 10% and many who survive have permanent renal damage, lost digits etc.

One other anecdote. A friend of mine got very sick last month but wouldn't go to the doctor. When I visited him he was super grumpy and started shouting at me when I told him to go to emergency. He went in and they found lesions on his lungs and his blood-oxygen volume was down around 80% meaning hypoxia and impairment of judgement. It was Covid. If someone is sick and very grumpy its probably hypoxia.

I'll dig my mask out and act right. I'm starting to feel some real anger towards China. An adjustment to my outlook is needed clearly.

Data and science vs fear and doom stupidity....
I choose data and science...

Data shows 33.000+ Americans got infected yesterday versus 380 Canadians. That will have some impact on the future numbers. Negative outcomes go beyond death rates what the data is showing almost everywhere is the medical profession is getting better at keeping covid patients alive imo. However, not everyone who survives is having an easy go of it and there is no data on long term implications of getting this virus. But you are free to go get it depending on where you live ( Toronto is still on stage one lock down ).

Everyone wants to know, do you wear a mask and keep a safe distance from others in public. Simple question a yes or no answer is all we need to know. Data and science clearly says you must.

YES..... so obviously correct. I'm surprised there is debate. Really surprised. It's a concern because deniers will fail to mask and infect people.

At least listen to Gottlieb, Fauci and Gupta.

How many times have I told you doomers the shutdown was useless once we had hospital bed capacity.

I must have told nine morons this a dozen times...
that we are getting the virus coming out of shutdown is proof the shutdown was massively destructive and accomplished almost nothing... (once we isolated the high risk and hospital bed capacity)

We can't hide from the thing forever and it obviously did not go away and we may never get a vaccine.

So far our results are no better than Sweden's and if you doomers are correct about the impending doom...You are actually proving Sweden's approach was the correct approach.

You have to learn to think in systems. Your IQs are clearly deficient if you can't understand the data.
