Most people who buy a pickup use the bed. Most people who choose between a Honda and Mercedes and buy a merc do so because there are perceivable quality and feature differences. A 150 or 100 dollar nike shoe and a 40 dollar Nike shoe from 2 years ago at discount have zero perceivable feature nor other material differences. Other than bragging rights the former does not differ other than in price.

The irony of the whole Nike/Kaepernick/BLM protest..... They’ve picked a company who’s guilty of the very thing they’re protesting. Nike made its bones in Asian sweatshops.

Must be some type of personal guilt that forces Nike to willingly participate.

I wonder why their logo hasn’t been removed for their past atrocities

I'm sure you're a genius. I mean the stuff you've shared here about yourself... pfff, there's no way you're not. You had a privileged upbringing, but unlike so many, you took the opportunities that availed and ran with it all on your own. You leveraged your own intellect and drive in the right niche and achieved a level of personal and financial success that you have every right to proud of. You're a self made man.

But Grul... and I don't mean this in a bad way.... but because of the path your life has taken, there's a lot you have missed and a lot you don't understand about mainstream American culture. Sure you can write it off with "I don't care, 80% are stupid AF anyway"... and I would tend to agree... but you're arrogant almost to a fault. Is that a bad thing? No, not really. You have a right to be. But with that, might I submit that when you opine about things, you have to perhaps realize your own shortcomings in experience in regards to that which you opine. That's the mark of a true genius Grul.
 
I never consider myself a genius but believe to be a keen observer and student, whether it be history or contemporary issues. Thanks for your compliments, however. The only privileged upbringing I had was to have been educated and brought up by a good father and mother, something every child should have a right to have. Of course I could digress if I stated that unfortunately that is not the case because of all this BS surrounding LGBTQ and their false right to be parents which should have never happened. Or that there are selfish adults who split out of pure selfishness and poor life choices even they have kids. But I digress.

Would be nice if you would argue the case at hand. I honestly can't comprehend why someone would buy a pair of shoes that cost 150 dollars which cost 1/10 to make. Yes there are many products that costs pennies to make that we pay dollars for. But it is because of necessity and lack of substitute products. A pair of sneakers that retails generally around 30-60 dollars is in quality perfectly equivalent to a pair of 150 Nike sneakers. If a sports car would only offer bragging rights but nothing beyond that I would equally argue about the stupidity of owning one. But sports cars cost a lot more than a 25k Nissan for good reason. Tons more research goes into the development of those cars in order to handle the much more demanding physics when driving at 120 or 130 miles an hour. The breaks and gear box and tires and engine are of much higher workman ship and quality. The unit numbers are very low per model in comparison to a mass produced car. Very little of the selling price is brand name. If Nissan or Toyota could make sports cars they would and they would price them accordingly which they actually do. Not because Nissan and Toyota are such awesome brands that people pay money for a name. But Nike sneakers have nothing that other brands don't have, none of their shoes have magic materials or underwent lengthy engineering and research processes. Virtually 8/10 of the price is charged for the brand name. Paying full price for a brand new line of sneakers is incomprehensible to me other than someone paying for exactly what Nike is hoping people will pay for: thin air and a logo to show off to peers. I am not surprised of the existence of those of lesser intellect who lack self confidence and need to somehow make up for that via brands and luxury. But they should not get angry when bring exposed as idiots when they do so. I hold the same view of people who buy Birkin hand bags and other crap that is mostly comprised of brand value.
