Let's get back to the point, who pays full price (more than 100 bucks) for Nike sneakers? Generally those who lack a certain degree of self confidence. Think about it. Whoever has plenty means to buy more expensive shoes would do so. If you showed up at the Greenwich country club in Adidas or Nikes everyone wos laugh about you. It's people where 100 bucks means something to them, kids, teenagers, young adults. Other segments would buy Nike or Adidas but only a tiny minority would pay full price and rather buy the models from last year or 2 years ago.
Among those who pay full price, blacks buy relatively more of those shoes, regarding their percentage representation in American society. That is interesting given that blacks on average earn less and have less savings than other ethnic groups. Something's gotta give. Is the census count wrong? The stats who buys Nikes? Or perhaps are the numbers true and Blacks more so than other ethnic groups buy those shoes even though some may not be able to afford them. Do they get those shoes as status symbol (as ridiculous as that sounds) and to show others they can afford them, whether it is true or not.
