Coin Kaepernick Convinces Nike To Pull Flag-Themed Shoe

It is not about patriotism it is about selected outrage. the Betsy Ross flag is flown regularly at U.S. events and is a symbol of the first 13 colonies of the U.S. and the Revolutionary War (hence the appearance often on July 4th.). For many years not any real public outcry that the flag refers to time that there were also slaves. In fact at the time of that Flag, only wealthy white males were really allowed to vote and women had no rights.

So Nike puts it on their shoe and as ugly as I think it looks, now there is collected outrage from Cap and twatters.

So....suddenly it is bad? Cap is getting paid by Nike, he works for them and haqs not global brnad staying power like Tiger Woods does. Tiger makes Nike hundreds of millions in golf gear so I understand why they did not drop him. But if Cap was all over the front page for cheating on his wife repeatedly in a scandal he would be dropped tomorrow.

The right is calling it unpatriotic. Who on the mainstream left is calling Betsy Ross’s flag racist?

I like Kapernik. Whether you agree with him or not, he found an effective way to send his message. It’s a message that he genuinely feels strongly about.

Nike has a history of supporting their athletes. I can’t find the article now but there was a nice article (on Bloomberg I think) where they showed all the unpopular things Nike did in support of their athletes.

WTH exactly is his message?

Perhaps you step into footlocker next time or Nike and check out who buys those 100-150 dollar shoes. It's hugely more blacks than just 11% of the customers.

Really, which facts did I disagree with? None. Idiots buy 100 or 150 dollar Nike sneakers, those who lack self confidence. Anyone who is a smart saver and investor would not waste that amount of money on a pair of sneakers. Anyone who could not care less about money would never buy Nikes to start with. If you buy brand new 150 dollar Nike sneakers then I honestly think you are stupid. Unless your life depended on a sneaker and that 150 dollar one were the only sneaker in the shop available at the time.

Can we safely conclude that those are marketing gimmicks for self confidence lacking teenagers and young adults who have not yet found their course in life.

Not everyone here is so piss poor trash like you their pussy hurts to pay $100 for a pair of sneakers to play hoops with. Foot locker does not take food stamps so you will have to keep shopping at the goodwill stores.

Botching about people paying $100 for sneakers
... you so poor you cannot afford to pay attention.

Since you have the athletic ability of a mentally challenged manatee you dont have to worry about buying $100 Nike, Addidas or Under Armour.

Mine last me over a year even with regular play.

I am surprised the sight of minorities in Foot Locker does not make you run the other way to TJ Maxx to buy your discount kicks for your paws.

WTH exactly is his message?

The fact that you don’t know says more about you. Do you only get your news from Breitbart or do you willfully ignore black people?

He was protesting the fact that so many innocent black people were being shot by police officers.

I thought he was protesting the Betsy Ross flag?

The one that symbolized our independence, you know the independence that led to the end of slavery.

Again, WTH exactly is his message?

It's a good question, what exactly is his message? If he's protesting police brutality why not kneel in front of a police station? Lets look at this specific to Kapernick himself. What is everyone talking about? Police brutality? No. We're talking about flags and now shoes, and ultimately everyone is talking about Kapernick, which is what this was all about from the jump, him and his washed up career. How to be a media whore 101.
