Chevy Volt takes 27 years before owners save money

Quote from Sandybestdog:

I'm not sure, I don't know much about diesels. My only experience is with trucks. People come in looking for diesels and I ask why. A lot of times they just say for the gas mileage. That really doesn't make sense to me because the diesel engine is $8000 more. Plus, diesel fuel is so much more expensive. Now if you want a diesel for towing, that's a different story.

As for cars, I'm not sure. It will depend on the cost of the engine and maintenance. Traditionally I thought that diesel engines required more maintenance. Electric cars are virtually maintenance free. Electricity is significantly cheaper than gas and can be supplied from several different sources. Diesel is still oil and as such using a different kind doesn't seem to be lessening our dependence on oil. It seems the future should definitely include natural gas. They are going to make the Cruze in a diesel, so I'm sure I'll know more then.

I have a dodge diesel, great truck but if I didn't need the pulling power I would of just gotten a GM 1/2 ton v8 gas pickup. I used to have the GM 5.7 converted gas to diesel pickup and that thing was amazing, 30mpg on the highway loaded down. I know a lot of people had problems with those but I was lucky and had a good one.
For what I do I have to have range and power so electric doesn't work unless I bought an extra car just to run around town.

30 MPG loaded?

Bullshit.

Unless you've used your astronomically high IQ to invent some new internal combustion technology that is just pure fabrication.

Hey baker's dozen boy, I don't think math is your specialty, you'd better leave the simple math to those of us who know how to use a calculator.
Now run along son, leave the work talk to us men.

Do you drive a normal gas car and worry about that? If the answer is no, why worry about it with the Volt? There have been no real world fires yet for some reason people spread false propaganda about it.

"Based on the available data, NHTSA does not believe that Chevy Volts or other electric vehicles pose a greater risk of fire than gasoline-powered vehicles."

Ah yes, government data to support your claim. I always believe the government. Good play.

Hell I would if they made the roads wider. Mostly I pull my 5th wheel trailer.

Naw, you're a damned liar.

My 7.3 liter Powerstroke Diesel can get 21 mpg unloaded but pulling my car trailer with my 2000 lb 914-6 GT brings it down to about 14-16 and that is not a heavy load. The truck can tow 21,000 lbs according to its CGVWR.

You are 100% completely full of shit littlearrow. A previcator and fabricator of internet stories. Pathetic. Your titanic IQ should have told you that you wouldn't get away with that.

You are caught in a lie.

You are so stupid and arrogant it's pathetic man. What an insecure man you are. For the record when I said loaded it was the bed loaded full and catching wind about a foot above the cab, it was a gutless wonder and couldn't tow much, but it did get 30 mpg as did other GM 5.7 diesel conversion owners did. You really need to think and research a little before you open your mouth. You might be a scientist in real life but you're a dumb fuck to talk to.

30 mpg loaded? Nope, that is a lie and you are damned liar.

Your dishonesty has been noted.

In my experience people who are willing to lie about small things have no hesitation to lie about big things either.

Baker's dozen boy has his pride hurt, poor kid.
Must suck getting your butt spanked regularly by me.
No run along son, I have to get back to work.
