I'm not the science guy, but I don't see the point of ingesting protein just before working out. I've always had my best workouts hours after a light meal. And I'm not even looking to lose weight. The idea of having a sugar-rich "power" bar before working out wouldn't even enter my mind. However, I have had a regular coffee on occasion shortly before working out. Perhaps those more knowledgeable on this topic will chime in with their opinions.
As for remaining within your caloric intake, I think there are better ways of doing so. Out of curiosity, could you list the ingredients of this power bar and its nutritional breakdown?

A measly 3 pounds from removing the 8 and turning into a 7. I have three more days to do it, but there is like zero delta of it happening. So I will have to be patient. Maybe one more week.
I was busy this afternoon and I forgot to have my usual oatmeal that gives me a bit of a boost before I workout. So I get to the gym and I am starving. They sell me one of these power bars, and it more than did the trick.
Discovered a trick that has helped me a little bit. In order to intensify my workout, I have had to run/walk/run/walk. The hardest part of running is the toll it takes on my knees/legs. So I tried "fast walking" the way those Olympians do, and I was amazed - I am able to go almost indefinitely in that style without tiring, and the reading on the treadmill is definitely cranked.
I took a picture of myself with my head cut off, but I though better of uploading it since I don't want killer to get all steamy.
