I'm not the science guy, but I don't see the point of ingesting protein just before working out. I've always had my best workouts hours after a light meal. And I'm not even looking to lose weight. The idea of having a sugar-rich "power" bar before working out wouldn't even enter my mind. However, I have had a regular coffee on occasion shortly before working out. Perhaps those more knowledgeable on this topic will chime in with their opinions.

As for remaining within your caloric intake, I think there are better ways of doing so. Out of curiosity, could you list the ingredients of this power bar and its nutritional breakdown?

I'm no expert either, but I think you are right. Pre-workout is not the time to get your protein. You want carbs for energy before a workout; protein after.

I did like the effects of taking N.O. Shotgun pre-workout, also heard good reviews on NO Explode. My friend swears by McDonalds coffee for pre-workout energy boost.

A measly 3 pounds from removing the 8 and turning into a 7. I have three more days to do it, but there is like zero delta of it happening. So I will have to be patient. Maybe one more week.

I was busy this afternoon and I forgot to have my usual oatmeal that gives me a bit of a boost before I workout. So I get to the gym and I am starving. They sell me one of these power bars, and it more than did the trick.

Discovered a trick that has helped me a little bit. In order to intensify my workout, I have had to run/walk/run/walk. The hardest part of running is the toll it takes on my knees/legs. So I tried "fast walking" the way those Olympians do, and I was amazed - I am able to go almost indefinitely in that style without tiring, and the reading on the treadmill is definitely cranked.

I took a picture of myself with my head cut off, but I though better of uploading it since I don't want killer to get all steamy.

sounds like you're doing interval training, which is my recommended way of losing fat. What I've read is that the stationary bike is the best equipment for this. Eliptical is not intense enough, treadmill too hard on joints. I recommend the reclined bike to save your nuts. 30 seconds of speed peddling as fast as you can, then 1.5 minutes of 70% effort. Go for 5-8 intervals. Actually just read about it online. Lots of info out there

Do you rollerblade? :p

has anybody had any success using the 'cheat day' concept? which is basically taking one day a week to eat whatever you want in order to keep your metabolism cranking? I think it makes a lot of sense, but I'm just not that disciplined. I eat pretty healthy all the time and forget to do my cheat day every week.

Any big proponents of ice cream here? My friend swears by ice cream every day. I'm more of a peanut butter guy.

I try to avoid ice cream. Too much sugar and saturated fat. One of my favorite treats, which I have every day, is a mix of of walnuts, raisins and pumpkin seeds. It's a very tasty and healthy combo. And a small amount of dark chocolate afterwards.
