I was nearly ticketed for parking on the wrong side of the street in a Louisiana backwater townlet with two stores across the street from each other, no cars and no parking lines, me used to driving on the left. The cop wanted to take me in until I paid cash as "tourists have run out on the ticket". Some nice elderly black men across the street mobbed him verbally for being a thieving cowardly prick which helped him give up on his payday.
US cops can prey on outsiders. I was targeted three times in a few weeks for pure financial gain.
It happens I was on a mission to find some even then considered racially insensitive "Red Man" chewing gun for somebody back home. Never found it.
