Aunt Jemima, Gone. Lol

Completely agree, white kids (Asian kids too) have role models. There has been too much screechy black guy (Chris Tucker) over the decades. Black guy always dies first. Same for latino kids if they only ever see gardeners and maids and criminals. Lazy stereotypes shaping reality.

Wakanda the ultra high tech Marvel African nation was a big, finally, moment for many. Kids have to dream big.

Coming soon, to Liberal USA.

Oh there goes Mrs. Butterworth's lol.

Let see. What else must we eliminate?

Captain Crunch.. has to go because... cultural appropriation. Pirate culture must be protected under the Civil Rights Act.

Har.

We should do a bingo or a pool or something. Bet on the Cancel Culture's next victims. Like a death pool but for when Karen's attack.

I cannot take any of this very seriously anymore. I mean really, Aunt Jemima? This is such an obvious white guilt virtue signaling stunt I can't believe anyone would buy it. Black guy murdered by white cop. Hmmm, what to do? I know, lets rebrand the syrup, that'll appease them, and some geniuses sitting around a boardroom table actually think it's a good idea. It is impossible for me to listen to this nonsense and just not bust out laughing.

I don't know the brand history of Aunt Jemima but I don't like it has Jem in it. :) I just a couple of weeks ago watched Mad Men, that was a fascinating insight into what was normal prejudice to minorities and women in this period late 50s-70s.

Give them some more time, you still have white Americans who think the civil rights movement was a global phenomenon with the US leading :) nope it was the US running apartheid way way after the rest of the west then only South Africa lagging behind.

The music is shite now though.

An issue in the US is as the book says, too much and never enough. The old system of fight for it and let the weak die quietly is a bit fucking primitive and unnecessary.

It's quite simple, spend a while with a black child in the house in a white or even mixed area. You see things in a new light. I have done this.

Conservatives don't have much imagination for empathy until they experience something personally. This is why Clint keeps making movies about old racist guys learning new stuff.

Also known as Dick Cheyney's gay daughter.

No, I wouldn't. But then again, no one was using an enslaved woman as their brand. She was free, willing and it was a brand representing her plight and drawing attention to the hardships she endured.

That is what is funny because there were complaints about Jemima off and on for quite some time.

Speaking to some friends they said that forget the violence and looting but the protests are ALWAYS ignored. Whitey wants to pat themselves on the back fo finally doing something. What Blacks were in power from 1890 to 1960 to have an effect on getting rid of offensive symbols?

Black people have complained about Jemima and things like that for some time and white corporate America usually just brushed it off. So when people say why did no one care before...

Actually it was that people were not listening. It took some rioting and awful things to happen for whitey to say...wait....you mean you did not like that?

Years ago a CEO could say something racists and it would be brushed off. Now they are forced to resign and get out (see owner of Clippers, CEO of CrossFit).

Now the pendulum might be swinging way too far with the Gone With the Wind shit but I cna understand the frustration for decades and suddenly some fucktards sit in a park in Seattle and claim they are changing the world. Where the fuck where you in 1960....1970....1950...

Did you think it shoudl be removed back in 1980 when Black people complained about it? I believe I saw an All thigns Considered episode with commentators saying the image is offensive and should be changed.

The problem is just because whites are NOW listening to complaints that were being made for years and years, we expect Blacks to be so thankful for the sudden wokeness. WHy did it take protests at this magnitude for whitey to say having an image rooted in a Mammy should be changed.
