Assault Weapons

Fully automatic weapons are illegal and have been for a long long time unless a ridiculously hard to obtain permit is granted. Some idiot on another thread described assault weapons as fully automatic, yet railed on about AR-15's muzzle velocity. AR-15's are not assault rifles or assault weapons etc etc etc no way no how no matter what the muzzle velocity or energy expended.

Fully automatic weapons are not "illegal", they are simply regulated. It is legal to own a fully automatic weapon, or a tank, or whatever, so long as you have the proper FFL licensure. You claimed an AR-15 was not an assault weapon. Maybe not by strict statute, but it is an "assault-style" weapon. The AK-47 is defined by the US Army as an "assault weapon" in that other thread. I posted the page from the Army intelligence manual inwhich they defined an "assault" weapon.

Look man, I agree, the whole "assault" weapon meme is old. Has been for years. A deft ninja with a Katana could go into a crowded store and kill way more people than an AR-15 in the same amount of time, because a katana does not run out of ammo. Mreh.

I believe I stated this.

Indeed, you did.

"Fully automatic weapons are illegal and have been for a long long time unless a ridiculously hard to obtain permit is granted."

That also applies to handguns in many states in the union. Your pistol is illegal unless you have a permit to own it.

----There is no such thing as an assault rifle. All rifles can be the instrument used in felony assault.
----There is no such thing as an assault weapon. All weapons can be the instrument used in felony assault.
----Nearly all items period can be the instrument used in felony assault.
----By the Left's definition of "assault rifle or weapon", nearly every item known to man would need to be banned.

Owning a gun does not make someone more violent. That is a terrible argument. Let's puzzle this out logically. So the more guns one owns, the more violent they become, and the more likely they will use their weapon in a violent crime.

It's a silly way to think of it. By that measure, destriero would be the next psycho-killer mass shooter.

Rethink your thoughts.
A violent person who owns a gun is more likely to kill somebody than a violent person who has trouble obtaining a gun.

The permit for a pistol is not very hard to get. I wonder why so many criminals don't get a permit?

Hmmm! Food for thought!

So who is more violent? The guy with the machete, or the American cops who would have shot him dead with their firearms?

So, then ban guns for everyone is your answer. By the way, the violent person will find another way to kill somebody.

I'll take my chances against somebody with a machete over somebody with an AR-15. You can equate a gun with a machete, a car, homemade bomb, etc. However, the truth is most people kill others with guns. When gun access is limited homicides go down.
