None.....everything runs great....now I'm thinking of that solid state drive mentioned above!

help me with this guys,

paying roughly $1,600 for the M6807 or well over $3,000 for the same chip, possibly faster version, from the other two vendors:

Hyperion
Michael Computers

For me... im running 512meg and its not enough.
I run some HUGE simulations that get VERY memory intensive.
I may get 2 gigs of ram for my next platform for more speed
via much larger data caches.

I run a 1024meg desktop and it is slow when using wealthlab. I need double that or more if possible..
Tell me about data caches and how they affect performance?
If I buy a notebook are there any that can take big ram?

Want to know how your system compares to these new AMD chips, then go to this page:

http://www.alienware.com/system_pages/aurora_ddr.aspx

Search on the string "Test this system's performance", and click on it.

It will run a little test on your computer and show you
how much faster this AMD 64bit box is.

I tested my puny 1Ghz Athlon against the Aurora Enthusiast and got the following message.

The Performance Analyzer has detected that this new Alienware-system does not offer performance increasement compared to your current system. Please click "Continue" to view other Alienware-models

Dont know about the notebooks.

But the more memory you have, the faster an equity curve
simulator can calculate the final results when crunching
large portfolios of symbols.

Wealthlab is incredibly slow compared to my home grown
backtesting system.

You probably need 10 times the memory I do with wealth-lab
to do a backtest, and you will still come out much slower than me.

IMHO, unless you're doing NASA stuff, you won't notice the difference enough to justify the added cost. That statement is qualified with my experience of being in this industry for over 15 years. This improvement won't be missed or felt (this time) by you for your trading need. :)
