AMD 64bit Laptop

DDR memory allows for the easy swapping between open applications...

the HT (hyper transport) features maximize this multiple application simultane-ity....

add to all this, the 64bit processor bandwidth....

you can see, touch and feel the difference in the Intel P4's that use the 800Mhz frontside bus, so you can just imagine what the 64bit processor feels like...

keep the comparisons and comments coming guys....

Were their any software issues?...

I have been using this machine for 2 weeks now, and I have to concur. As a point of reference, was using a 2.8 Pentium before, but needed a lap...and was set to buy a HP 17" when this came out..

.....this is the "smoothest running" computer I have used...."....nothing hangs....I can have a ridiculous number of windows open...plus tws plus qcharts..plus Word..always ample memory with the basic 512ram....I think the 1gig cache helps!

anyone looking for a new computer, lap or desktop, I would definitely recommend at least looking at AMD 64 configs as an alternative to Intel.

I am no computer geek......just need a machine that I can PRESS without me or it asking a ton of questions!

for each machine right above the slash price, look like the link get gray out but it is active.

btw, the top machine run about 4,000 time faster than my 2Ghz machine.

Performance Analysis was not possible
Unfortunately we couldn't calculate performance estimations for your computer setup. This may be the case if your computer has components unknown to the Performance Analyzer. The event has been logged and we're constantly updating our performance databases. Please check back soon!

oh well, guess I am special....but kewl idea

...I couldn't find the link for the hefty new MaximumPC article, that new monster rig is awesome!

I don't think MaxPC has posted it yet but here's a relevant link: http://www.go-l.com/news/press_releases/2004/press_maximumpc.htm

"L" computers with "PuRam" keep Windows XP on a $5000 solid-state drive to eliminate OS disk-access and provide "instant-on" capability. Of course that kind of expense and technology still doesn't tell you when to buy and sell in the markets. :(

There 64 bit version will be an interesting read.....

They run at accelerated speeds of up to 3.8GHz and a 950MHz System Bus, and are the first readily available desktop computers without a system Hard Drive with the whole operating system permanently sitting on a Solid State Flash Drive, PuRam™, that runs at the maximum memory bandwidth speeds using ’s proprietary Technologies.

What does this mean above in bold? It does not get any faster than this?....are we finally at the speed of light when dealing with bandwidth capacity?
