A real edge hardly requires any testing

Its not about picking and discarding, the pick should be enormously profitable than the discards.
The basic thing is working on data reveals low quality and sub standard edges, working on charts and on taming randomness produces wonderful results, that work.

You need to change the way you think i guess, but when you get it , you will know it.
....yet more of it.

That's so random. Some strategies are 30/70 profitable, others are 70/30 - profit factor and other metrics determine the profitability.

Working on charts IS working on data. Your brain can in no way keep an accurate record of thousands of trades' metrics by eyeballing charts, so you are relying on data.

Just FYI, Rentech is supposedly relying purely on data mining and they don't care at all that many, like you, feel it is inferior. Their results speak for themselves.

I've been where you are and know how you must feel. I've been trading for longer than you though.

And i have found by turning the disadvantages of indicators into an advantages.

Sounds like nonsense.

No amount of testing will give a decent enough solution to neatly deal with whipsaws in a chart...

Testing is nothing more than parameter optimization, for a dataset, whereas a successful trader beats the market with a concept,

Whipsaws are part of any trading method, no matter the approach. You just haven't found a method perhaps to deal with them reasonably well.

"A successful trader" can use a concept but what is that concept based on? You said you look at charts. Guess what, you're also performing parameter optimization.

You could assert the Earth is flat and I'd call it a crap assertion, is that because I don't understand it or because you're making an absurd assertion? You could say that the proper way to recover from a spin in an airplane is to apply full opposite aileron and I'd call it a crap assertion, is that because my many years as a professional pilot lead to my inability to understand or would it be because you're making a crap assertion. We could go on all day with assertions that education and experience lead those of us with experience and education to call crap, again precisely because we understand the subject and you don't. If you call that arrogance, we'll get back to me in a few years and let me know if you still feel the same way. Once again, we have an advantage over you in that we once were you. Funny how both my teenager and you seem to be incapable of grasping that, way of the world for my teenager because of brain development and all, but not strictly necessary for the novice.
I didn't say the earth is flat. And there is no relation between being a professional pilot and trading successfully. It will surely be useful if you stop talking about yourself and personally attacking others instead of staying on the topic of discussion.

Please, we are not here to learn about you or your teenager son. Stay on the topic of discussion please.

Thanks.

Those were my words.
What it basically pertains to was a lot of words, buzzwords, technical jargo without actually saying something.
To me it smacks of noob talk, we get a lot of that, trying to impress.
You do seem to be an expert ..!!

You seem to think you know everything, thats ok, but you concentrate more on proving yourself an expert rather than providing a more justifiable reasoning..!! Why people here are so closed to a new idea.... frustrated with their own trading results ...????

There is a general lack of maturity , people here are more interested in talking about themselves rather than constructively exploring an idea....

You are a special one aren't you.

I never claimed to know everything. What you're talking about isn't a new idea at all, in fact it's the oldest idea around. Intense data mining is actually the newest idea around.
You talk about maturity and then go on to disagree with all traders here who have done this far longer.

People can't stand someone who walks in and says: "I discovered something new..."
I believe you and I take it as an inspiration to search even harder myself.

People can't stand someone who claims to have discovered something new, despite everyone saying that it's been discovered before.
