"tax hit" is relative to the individual trader. I doubt that a group move will effect markets in this regard. AT least to any extent. It really depends on the investor / trader and their individual situation. I guess the bigger question in my mind is how many really bought all the way up...

No, you would report on your 2010 tax filing and it would be treated as a short term capital gain taxed at your current rate. Rubbing my temples just thinking about taxes.

Not sure I understand ammo. You must hold the stock for one full year to get the long term capital gain rate of 15% (until Obama and congress can get rid of this). If you do not hold for a full year, you pay your current tax rate on the capital gain. The requirement to pay those taxes is...

You only pay %30 if you are in the %30 bracket. Likely %28 or less for most on these boards. Also, the holding time of 1 year is the key, not by end of year. If selling over a year, you pay 15% long term cap. It has NOTHING to do whether you sell prior to calendar year end.

    How is Interactive Brokers Cheaper?

The "paper" bank of course. Or (multiple) "paper" brokerages. Hey, what is "un-bundled", LOL! :p

    How is Interactive Brokers Cheaper?

And you think the "why not unbundle" question was uncalled for? 25 years of experience? A new alias to ask this question? ROFLMAO!!!!!! Goodbye until you reappear with a new alias. and btw, I could give two fuks on what your "assessment" of me is, LOL.

    How is Interactive Brokers Cheaper?

I've never claimed to know it all. I only pointed out the absolutely obvious. Pull your bunched-up panties out of your ass and continue your search for a good paper trading system. Good luck on finding and maybe even becoming "one of the boys". Change alias and try again. :p

    How is Interactive Brokers Cheaper?

Needed customer service once on a TWS question. Got a response on the help chat in about 20 seconds. He was somewhat a smartass, but nothing more than a NY cabbie. ACH...no prob. Execution....instant on multiple contracts or hundreds (+) shares. Good fills, minimal slippage. Charts...

    How is Interactive Brokers Cheaper?

Great post...but be assured the OP still has a grudge against IB as stated in his first post. Here is another thought that the OP will not consider......... Brokerages exist in a MARKET. YOU have the ability to determine the best value by which participant you choose to do business...

    Crazy Bulls

Better make that stop "extra wide" as those nasty crash-gappers tend to fuk a fella's melon all up. Look at RIMM in the fall of 08. No where to run baby, no where to hide, LOL! :)

    ES Journal Archive (2009 - 2010)

There is merit in wave's comments and I'm not trying to cause discourse............. But, if those "smart" 800 pound gorillas have been long sonce 1200, they have had an impressive ass-kicking for a long time now. With that track record, I'm not sure they would again be considered the 800...

Seems to me that 800 pounder would then be long as hell from 1104 to 1200 as opposed to your statement (breaking even on his longs). We are talking ES right?
