Some brokers will let you trade ES on $300 intraday margin. How much leverage?? If you're trading account is "all you've got", it's foolish to trade on high margin. If your trading account is a small(?) percentage of your trading/investing capital, higher leverage is OK in that small account...

Intuitively is seems.... wouldn't "counterparty market-makers" have the opportunity to mess with spreads and fills to the great disadvantage of customers? Seems they could skim off a "bit extra" of every trade without the customer being any the wiser...

You must have the patience of a saint to have tolerated them for this long.

(1) If the firm that trades against its clients is not really a "broker", is there a name for such? (2) If a firm is acting as counterparty... do they keep track of results "per customer"... so in case they run across a sharp trader... they stop fading him and actually broker his trades?

Didn't used to be that way. Our "immigration policy" was to vet applicants as to their desirability to contribute to America, our culture and work ethic, economy and to "embrace America"... IOW... assimilate into our culture. And that was fine. More recently, the politicos don't bother...
