It's only white, Christian society and culture that needs "diversity" shoved down our collective throats?
Actually my previous posts on immigration don't really align with Trump's comments -- when taken in context of big picture immigration.
The reality is that the U.S. is facing a situation where we need more immigration to maintain our economic development, and keep our public retirement systems sustainable. We should be looking to increase immigration of both skilled and unskilled people. There should be three questions for each potential immigrant 1) Are the skills they provide necessary for the economy? 2) Will they be a burden on our social benefits systems? (in other words they must be employable) 3) Are they a cultural fit for American values and will be able to readily adapt to living in the U.S.?
How about we cut a deal. All the Haitians who came over and are activity employed in U.S. & paying taxes and not currently receiving public benefits -- we will consider allowing them to stay. The others go back now.
Sure, let's do for other immigrants as well eh? Why do Irish/Italians or Germans on welfare get to stay? If they or their descendants couldn't make it in the country even after hundred years, they have no hope and should be returned back. They have decent countries to go back to as well unlike poor Haitians.
OK -- I agree. Sounds like a plan. Let's deport all the lazy, shiftless people free-loading on public benefits. Like the way your liberal thinking is going today.
Trump needs to be careful with what he says as this could backfire. These countries might just start getting their act together just to prove him wrong.

These are all buzzwords, if free loading was the problem then red states won't exist. Their whole economy was based on exploiting slave labor and lynching blacks for looking at their women.
The real question is will the left ever evolve on immigration and race relations? They will be the first to tell us that our social mores must change and time goes on. They'll tell us the constitution is a living breathing document and needs to evolve and change with the times. You know what , I agree completely. So the question is why do they refuse to evolve on immigration as the country has changed. It's painfully obvious we're at the breaking point on the lower end of our society. We simply don't need, nor can we afford to continue adding to this class. Why are they stuck with the outdated immigration polices of the 19th and early 20th century? Why are they stuck in the 50' and 60's on race relations? One can only speculate that they are politically in need of a permanent underclass and that is the main driver in their clinging to this outdated and broken immigration policy.
You’re looking at this all wrong and jaundiced, same as Trump.
People who immigrate from Africa have higher education levels than Americans on whole and have wealthier households than average Americans. They prosper here and we all benefit.
As far as refugees go, that’s a different thing than immigration. Refugees tend to come from war torn, poverty stricken countries. The amount of refugees we take in is nominal. You’ve probably never met a refugee in your entire life.
As to comparing us to the Chinese, are you saying we should have Chinese values? Or, are you just cherry picking for the sake of arguing?
